Protesters chant 'Drop out Joe' as Biden leaves Manhattan fundraiser

Last edited Fri Feb 14, 2020, 12:09 PM - Edit history (1)

New York Post

A handful of protesters chided Joe Biden as he walked out of a Manhattan fundraiser on Thursday, urging the one-time Democratic frontrunner to drop out of the 2020 presidential race.

About half a dozen protesters from New York Communities for Change yelled at Biden as he was leaving the Wayfarer restaurant on West 57th Street near Sixth Avenue soon after 8 p.m.

“Drop out Joe! Drop out Joe!” they chanted as he walked to a waiting car.

“Skip Nevada! Skip South Carolina! Go home early!” one of the demonstrators yelled.

“We’re here to mark the death of Joe Biden’s campaign. This is what happens when you stand up for policies that are regressive. We coined Wall Street Pete and now we’re doing the same to Joe,” Alice Nascimento of Communities for Change said.

Good fucking god, get a grip. That's not at all what I claimed.

You know, you CAN disagree with an activity or protest (and that IS what this was, it wasn't harassment nor bullying by any reasonable sense of the word), and still agree overall with a groups purpose.

A perfect example is Greenpeace. Wonderful organization. I love it. I support it. Some of their protests I do think are over the top.

This is an organization that has done a LOT to help protect, defend, and assist poor/lower income neighborhoods in the New York City area. I'm not willing to throw the baby out with the bathwater.

Unfortunate, but I think Joe will be okay.

If the protestors are connected to any Democratic candidate, well, we just don't need that shit.

22. Biden calls on Sanders to take accountability for supporters' threats
Sat Feb 15, 2020, 08:15 PM
Feb 2020

Joe Biden called on Bernie Sanders to accept greater accountability for tactics and rhetoric of his staunchest supporters and do more to discourage it, after what he called the “outrageous” threats on a prominent union that criticized his healthcare plan.

Representatives of the powerful Culinary Workers Union, which represents 60,000 workers supporting Nevada’s gaming and hospitality industries, said this week that supporters of the Vermont senator had “viciously attacked” its members after its leadership warned about the risk to their negotiated health plans under a Medicare for All system.

In an exclusive interview airing Sunday on NBC’s “Meet The Press,” Biden said the Vermont senator “may not be responsible for it, but he has some accountability.”

“You know me well enough to know if any of my supporters did that, I’d disown them. Flat disown them,” Biden said. “The stuff that was said online. The way they threatened these two women who are leaders in that Culinary union. It is outrageous. Just — just go online.”

31. This stunt reminds me of the conduct of vetted sanders delegates at the National Convention
Sat Feb 15, 2020, 11:20 PM
Feb 2020

Normally going to a national convention is a once in a life time experience. I have worked really hard inside the party on campaigns and voter protection issues for a very long time to earn this trip. Too bad that sanders and his vetted delegates ruined that experience and did their best to help trump. A candidate has absolute approval rights over their pledged delegates because these delegates can change their votes and these delegates represent the candidate and campaign. I helped vet Clinton delegates and I know that I was vetted. The Clinton campaign told us that we represent her and that our actions would reflect on her and her campaign.

In contrast, sanders sent one very weak text the Sunday night before the convention and then did little or nothing to control his delegates. It was nasty I was there when the sanders delegates booed Congressman John Lewis. I was warned about this stunt 30 minutes before it happened by the Clinton campaign whip. According to my whip, sanders was asked to stop this event and declined. That incident will be used against sanders by Russia to suppress the African American vote just as was done in 2016

Russia will just run material showing sanders delegates booing John Lewis, Elijah Cummings and others to suppress the vote of African American voters and I feel that this tactic would be very effective

I was at the Texas delegation breakfast when a group of sanders delegates marched in and demanded that we condemn Clinton and change our votes to sanders.

sanders spoke to the Texas delegation the next morning and his speech was again solely about himself. There was a mini-riot due to his delegates the prior morning and the only thing that sanders talked about was himself. sanders did nothing to deal with the fact that his delegates were out of control and did nothing to try to help Hillary Clinton win the general election.

Finally a group of sanders delegates yelled at my daughter and called her the c-Word because she would not try to get me to change my vote. Again sanders was asked to tell his delegates to behave during the convention and sanders refused

The conduct described by the sanders supporters attacking the Union is consistent with what I saw and experienced first had
