3. I was in NYC that day Sully landed the plane on the HUdson River.

We could all see the plane from a friend's apartment near west 54th street.

It was surreal.

5. Every once in a while, a person with a huge amount of talent, experience,

and a "never quit" attitude" is in exactly the right place where that person can put his or her skills to use. It was so awesome that someone with so much glider experience as Captain Sully was in the pilot's seat that day.

Last night on the NBC news they had a story about a kid who was underwater in a hotel swimming pool for about 3 minutes. He was saved first by a second kid noticing that the first kid was underwater and in trouble, then by an adult pulling the first kid out of the pool, and finally by two nurses who were attending a nursing conference at the hotel who gave the first kid CPR. Remove any of those people and the kid might not make it.

Each of us truly can make a difference.

9. My friend was at the gym working out

he couldn't stand the music they were blasting so he went to a quiet spot in the gym, there wasn't anyone around, he had a cardiac arrest, just as it happened a nurse got off the elevator and started CPR, there was also an EMT and an emergency room Doctor at the gym that day, they all worked on him, it's been 10 years and he's doing great.

6. It was surreal just to watch it on the news. Must've seemed much more surreal when

you were that close.

One of us actually saw the plane as it came in.

he was looking out the window at the construction going on across the street. They were blasting for a foundation and it was noisy as heck.

Needless to say he was freaked out. 9/11 is still a vivid memory for New Yorkers like him.

But I just checked and the train trip was January 17, while the Miracle on the Hudson had been January 15.

watching it as they reported about the plane. My now almost thirteen year old was a baby at the time, so my memories are attached to her
