Warren blasts 'hateful and offensive' Limbaugh comments on Buttigieg

Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) defended fellow presidential contender Pete Buttigieg after conservative media personality Rush Limbaugh made comments about the former South Bend, Ind., mayor regarding his sexuality and his electability.

“These homophobic attacks against @PeteButtigieg are hateful and offensive. We will not tolerate this in the Democratic presidential race, and we will fight together against the hate and bigotry that Donald Trump promotes and rewards,” Warren tweeted.

The rebuke comes after Limbaugh, who was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom by President Trump at last week's State of the Union address, suggested that Buttigieg, who is gay, would send an inappropriate message with his candidacy.

This is the thing about hatred and bigotry - it hurts everyone, including the one generating it.

Last night, we watched the movie 'Best of Enemies.' It was an outstanding story about how a black activist woman and the then grand cyclops of the KKK sat on a charette panel in Raleigh back in 1971. The movie was about their interaction with one another, and about how they came to regard one another.

Wonderful movie! And, of course, I hope that we have an increasing number of people who look at what is going on now, and say, "I can no longer support this president or the Republican party. They are just wrong."

My nephew is gay when Trump won the election in 2016 he called me and I said get out of this country leave now.

He did he went to England and studied at Oxford. He's back now and in his first committed relationship.

My flight or fight response does not work correctly, and you do not want to say bad things about my family.

I would love for one of these bigoted homophobic a*holes to say something like that in my presence. They would regret it. I'm sorry to Michelle Obama but I can't do the let's go high thing.

I'm very proud of my party and our candidates.

who don't like Trump. It was just a matter of time before Limbaugh went after him. We've already seen some of the preachers go after him. They dare to talk shit about Buttigieg while the pig they worship is probably the most immoral person who's held that office since the days when we had slaveholders as President. They don't really care about Pete's sexuality, but they know a lot of their base is put off by it and they want to make sure that there aren't any defections to our side. I knew the knives would come out after Buttigieg did so well in Iowa and NH. Kudos to Sen. Warren for calling out Limbaugh.
