USA TODAY/Ipsos poll: For voters, Bernie Sanders outranks other Democrats and Trump on values, empathyWASHINGTON Is Democratic candidate Sen. Bernie Sanders likable enough to win the White House? A new USA TODAY/Ipsos poll released Friday suggests a lot of voters think so.
Asked for their views on the personal characteristics of several Democratic presidential contenders and of President Donald Trump, voters consistently gave Sanders the highest marks for his values and empathy.
But if character is on the ballot in November, the USA TODAY/Ipsos poll, conducted Wednesday through Thursday, shows Sanders has a clear advantage over the incumbent president. In the survey, 40% of voters said they admired Sanders character, well above the 26% who said they admired Trump.

So who cares if Bernie is likable or not. It doesn't make a difference in voting, does it? See this:

Decades of research shows likability does play a factor in American elections but the extent of the impact is hard to gauge. According to a report by The Barbara Lee Family Foundation, 84% of men and 90% of women said liking a candidate is important in their decision to vote.

(2,412 posts)Yes, many like a candidate who brings accessible health care and who understands that working families have been struggling for far too long. My great niece died while living in Georgia where they did not have ACA.. She kept putting off going to the doctor until finally when she did it was stage 4 lung cancer and nothing to be done for her. She was 54 years old. I support Sanders and Warren because they will fix this. I dont care if Sanders seems grumpy, I like his values and his compassion.

This health care debacle has gone on long enough. How many more of our fellow citizens will we lose because of no health care or patchwork Obama care.

(4,450 posts)Sanders, not so much. He has slogans and Bernie Bros. Warren knows how to work with people. Sanders knows how to air grievances, and not much more.

(35,619 posts)It is normally associated with a softer tone. I think with Bernie, it's expressed more with action. For example, at a recent rally, there was a medical emergency.
Bernie stopped the rally.
He also gave them his water.
