What do the residents of Burlington, Vermont, the adopted hometown of Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.), think of him? The Democratic presidential candidate was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., but moved to Vermont in 1968 at the age of 27 and spent eight years as mayor of Burlington in the 1980s. Burlington shaped Sanders as Sanders shaped Burlington, so much so that its hard to consider one without the other.

So being the mayor of a smaller sized city is important experience? (South Bend, IN, pop. 102,000, about 2 1/2 times larger).
