Biden calls on Sanders to take accountability for supporters' threats

Joe Biden called on Bernie Sanders to accept greater accountability for tactics and rhetoric of his staunchest supporters and do more to discourage it, after what he called the “outrageous” threats on a prominent union that criticized his healthcare plan.

Representatives of the powerful Culinary Workers Union, which represents 60,000 workers supporting Nevada’s gaming and hospitality industries, said this week that supporters of the Vermont senator had “viciously attacked” its members after its leadership warned about the risk to their negotiated health plans under a Medicare for All system.

In an exclusive interview airing Sunday on NBC’s “Meet The Press,” Biden said the Vermont senator “may not be responsible for it, but he has some accountability.”

“You know me well enough to know if any of my supporters did that, I’d disown them. Flat disown them,” Biden said. “The stuff that was said online. The way they threatened these two women who are leaders in that Culinary union. It is outrageous. Just — just go online.”

23. I have seen the conduct of sanders vettted delegates up close and there is a pattern
Sat Feb 15, 2020, 08:55 PM
Feb 2020

Normally going to a national convention is a once in a life time experience. I have worked really hard inside the party on campaigns and voter protection issues for a very long time to earn this trip. Too bad that sanders and his vetted delegates ruined that experience and did their best to help trump. A candidate has absolute approval rights over their pledged delegates because these delegates can change their votes and these delegates represent the candidate and campaign. I helped vet Clinton delegates and I know that I was vetted. The Clinton campaign told us that we represent her and that our actions would reflect on her and her campaign.

In contrast, sanders sent one very weak text the Sunday night before the convention and then did little or nothing to control his delegates. It was nasty I was there when the sanders delegates booed Congressman John Lewis. I was warned about this stunt 30 minutes before it happened by the Clinton campaign whip. According to my whip, sanders was asked to stop this event and declined. That incident will be used against sanders by Russia to suppress the African American vote just as was done in 2016

Russia will just run material showing sanders delegates booing John Lewis, Elijah Cummings and others to suppress the vote of African American voters and I feel that this tactic would be very effective

I was at the Texas delegation breakfast when a group of sanders delegates marched in and demanded that we condemn Clinton and change our votes to sanders.

sanders spoke to the Texas delegation the next morning and his speech was again solely about himself. There was a mini-riot due to his delegates the prior morning and the only thing that sanders talked about was himself. sanders did nothing to deal with the fact that his delegates were out of control and did nothing to try to help Hillary Clinton win the general election.

Finally a group of sanders delegates yelled at my daughter and called her the c-Word because she would not try to get me to change my vote. Again sanders was asked to tell his delegates to behave during the convention and sanders refused

The conduct described by the sanders supporters attacking the Union is consistent with what I saw and experienced first had

I know the delegates to the National Convention in prior years. In 2008, my middle child was the chaperone for a group of High School students attending the National Convention and she did not see this conduct. Joe is calling out the same conduct that I saw at the National Convention by vetted sanders delegates. There were planned stunts of booing Congressmen John Lewis and Elijah Cummings. My whip warned me about these stunts 20 to 30 minutes before they occurred.

If sanders is the nominee, the GOP and Russians will use these stunts to suppress the vote of African American voters. There was a ton of real anger at the National Convention about these stunts

republicans and Russians are well known to do that, they do want t divided Democratic party, they were successful at it in 2016 and they are doing it again, and many of us are playing the game.

This is horrific what is happening at DU, this effort to throw crap on candidates that are not our choice. This will not end up well, if we loose in November because of this division that is being created, eating our own, we will have no one to blame but ourselves.

I have to think there are trolls in DU, not sure how people can be vetted in DU, but real DU members have to avoid commenting on all this crap.

I wouldn't be surprised if they are the digital equivalent of the people Nixon used to send to anti-war rallies to burn American flags and make the whole anti-war movement look bad.

But I agree with Biden's general point - Bernie needs to do more to disassociate from these people, whether they are legit supporters or not. I, too, supported Bernie in 2016 but felt uncomfortable with the most radical faction of supporters.

I truly love how a candidate is supposed to be responsible for, and apologize for
every possible person who happens to align themselves with their campaign. But,
especially so if it's Sen. Sanders!

This post sounds like a bit of a red herring to me based on this:

Ever managed a large organization?
30+ people, several managers, lots happening daily?

That's actually a small organization, but I can tell you, you can't watch over
every single person, all they do and say, what they're working on....

If you think that translates up to thousands, or multi-thousands...

You have no idea. 1 person is supposed to have every single person under

the problem within his organization It doesn't help the people hired and the people he puts up as endorsement behave like this too. And Sanders does not call it out. When addressing the harassment and inequality withing his campaign, he states ALL campaigns, again. It wasn't ALL campaigns but saying that lets him and the people causing problems off the hook. Sanders is responsible and eggs it on. He is constantly creating agitation among his supports to the Democratic Party and the leaders pumping these feelings. It is on Sanders. After five years of hearing people call Sanders out should clearly show the issues.

68. Culinary Union officials face profanity-laced attacks after scorecard says Sanders would end health
Sat Feb 15, 2020, 10:48 PM
Feb 2020

In one email, which the union provided to the Independent, Culinary leaders are referred to as “corrupt mother fuckers” and says that it’s “time for people like me to go after you.”

“This is your chance to fix your mistake before the millions and millions of Bernie Sanders supporters will find you and end your ability to earn a living,” the email says. “We will find you corrupt mother fuckers of that you can be sure and we will make sure you wallow in poverty and suffering.”

“Apologize and fix your mistake or else you will pay … I know tens of thousands of Bernie supporters and we will come after you fascist imbeciles,” it continues. “#Bernie2020 #NotMeUs.”

Khan said the union has received dozens of phone calls, more than 300 emails and thousands of tweets over the last 48 hours.
The attacks against the hotel workers’ union come in the wake of the public release of a scorecard, which The Nevada Independent first reported on Tuesday, that criticizes the Vermont senator over his position on Medicare for all by saying that he would “end Culinary healthcare” if elected president. The union, which runs a health trust that covers 130,000 members and their families, opposes any single-payer, government-run health insurance system that would eliminate their much-loved health plans.

The union has been circulating the scorecard via text and email to their members, as well as back of house in Las Vegas hotels. Though the union declined to endorse a Democratic presidential candidate on Thursday, it has about 100 organizers dedicated to generally turning out union membership to this year’s caucus.

Gothmog in post 23 actually saw this happening.

quote from post 23..:"In contrast, sanders sent one very weak text the Sunday night before the convention and then did little or nothing to control his delegates. It was nasty I was there when the sanders delegates booed Congressman John Lewis"

j_________________________________________________________________________________________

Wellstone ruled..talked to people TODAY..and confirmed this...Sanders supporters act rude and disrespectful, .....................but......

...Sanders does little to stop this....... (this is my opinion, based on these posts.)

Keep this in mind,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Over the course of 4 years of campaigning, Sanders cannot control his people. (if Gothmog and Wellstone ruled are telling the truth..)...How the hell can Bernie be a good President, if he cannot control his own people? He has been told on several occasions about this, and has done nothing.!!!!
