Bloomberg

is obviously a bright guy with a solid resume. He would be spotting Dotard at least thirty IQ points. What concerns me from a strictly electoral viewpoint is his charisma deficit. He is not a dynamic speaker or imposing presence. Maybe it won't matter. Maybe dull is good compared to a raving lunatic.

primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden

1. His commercials have charisma.

How many folks really see the candidates in person, or even on tv?

4. His commercials are beyond great.

My concern is the candidate is not as good as the commercials. Maybe it won't matter. Bush Pere and Nixon were not charismatic.

7. I agree on not so much charisma, but he does come across as composed and competent.

I think that would appeal to the segment of voters a Bloomberg GE candidacy would need to target. He is NOT going to get Bernie voters (other than those sensibly in the "vote blue no matter who" camp). He would need to make up that deficit in the center.

Which is a big knock on him from progressives and I don't disagree. But there are 2 separate things to consider: 1) who can win in November; and 2) how good/bad/awful would they be? We are strictly talking about #1 here and I don't see Bloomberg as disqualified based on his charisma or lack of.

But he is very smart and quick with a sharp comment. i think that will match up well against Trump in a debate.

5. Agree he lacks charisma. But seems the most charismatic have dropped out.

Kampala, Booker, Yang. Amy grins a lot but not sure I’d call that charisma. Biden had it, but it’s been snuffed out. I think he’s just going through the motions and doesn’t even want it. So where does that leave us. Oh yeah, Bernie is decidedly not charismatic...makes my skin crawl.

8. High IQ?

If his IQ were as high as you say it is, he wouldn’t have supported stop and frisk policies in NYC that dramatically impacted Black and Brown families while he was mayor.

I do like his ads attacking Trump, though.

9. Bloomberg's 2015 audio tape. Should end any viability he has a candidate. End of story.

No way to defend a policy of sending police to black and brown parts of town to
jack young men up against a wall looking for guns and or drugs and or to see if
they have any warrants out on them. The police in NYC did this over 700,000
times with a less then a 1% "hit rate." And now he is lying about it saying that
he stopped "stop & frisk" in NYC but in reality the police department stopped it
on their own.

12. How did he win three terms as mayor of NYC, then? I'm asking in all seriousness.

That's not a podunk city with unsophisticated or disengaged voters. I'm reading that he's a very flawed human being, and an uncharismatic public speaker (although I don't find that to be totally true--he's no Obama, but by comparison a lot of our candidates right now aren't all that exciting either), but money only goes so far to make up for that.
