Democratic Primaries
Related: About this forumBloomberg chose to avoid facing SC Primary Voters.
Serious question.
I can almost understand why he did not participate in the Iowa and Nevada Caucuses, he came in too late to have a ground game in place.
But why is he HIDING from the South Carolina Democratic voters?
Are too many African American Democrats voting in that primary for his taste?
Was he afraid that giving black Democrats a chance to vote on his candidacy would hurt his chances when he parachutes into Super Tuesday?

So, that does not pass muster as a valid explanation.

(11,982 posts)On Super Tuesday, he will compete in 16 contests for his share of 1,357 delegates. He is going to come in from a known position... with of course no bounce from SC, but also no possibility of having had a disappointing showing there, either. For his strategy, competing in SC would be an unnecessary risk. If he had shown poorly in SC, his Super Tuesday could be dragged down. The odds that a strong SC could have pushed him much further up is probably far less likely. He's simply playing the system for his likely maximum benefit.

(3,322 posts)Bloomberg won re-election twice in a diverse electorate. I trust that he knows how to play the political chess game.
