Bloomberg Won't Create the Energy We Need to Beat Trump

Feb 16, 2020

The simple truth is that Mayor Bloomberg, with all his money, will not create the kind of excitement and energy we need to defeat Donald Trump.

There's a LOT of soul searching out there--as there should be.

Do we really need a rock star? Oh, that would be nice; energy ya know?

Can you please point me in the proper direction? Or, perhaps this a moment for calm reasoned judgment and mature civic consideration to save the fucking Republic and all of us from the terror of autocratic fascist domination??

Our country, its future, and our children's future need YOUR energy!

Independents preferred Trump in 2016. That's why he won the electoral college.

Trump won independents 50-40 in Wisconsin. Trump won independents 48-41 in Pennsylvania. Trump won independents 52-36 in Michigan. Trump won independents 46-42 nationally.

Those percentages shifted wildly in 2018 when independents favored Democrats.

The recent Reuters/Ipsos poll had Sanders with an 18 point lead over Trump among independents. Bloomberg was second with a 14 point margin.

I would propose that Bloomberg's edge is far more rigid and less likely to dissipate or reverse.

This was the key finding from that recent survey regarding whether voters would support a socialist:

https://nypost.com/2020/02/11/majority-of-americans-would-vote-against-socialist-candidate-for-president-poll-finds/

"Significantly, only 45 percent of key swing-state voters — self-described independents — would vote for a socialist while 51 percent said they would not."
