On the other hand I had a young man on my porch the other night, he was very nice, very respectful. This was his first campaign and he was very very supportive of Bernie. I told him I would support in in the general if he got that far, but not in the primary. He seemed crushed, I told him to just keep going, this is a democracy and everyone should have a voice. I also reminded him that we all need to keep our eyes on the prize, defeating Trump. He shook his head, thanked me and walked away. So there are the good ones out there, the bullies get all the attention.

University, grad and upper degree "kids". One in law school chose the third ranked law school that gave him an acceptance because it was a the school that gave him the largest scholarship, 3 years no tuition. He would have loved to take first choice that accepted him, a top ranked university but he would have been in debt of 300k. Second choice he would have been in debt of 150k. To hear candidates say "free" when he made the responsible choice doesn't sit well.

We also live in blue states and though I do love my blue state and wouldn't live elsewhere, the taxes are incredible. Not making a lot of money I am taxed a lot. I end up paying into state tax even though I declare 0. I do not trust that those of us trying to make it on minimum wage would not be the ones to pay more, too. And we cannot afford month to month living expenses as it is. To pay for all the free stuff will come out of my paycheck too.

I hoped the Republican Party would go the way of the Whigs and that the Democratic Party, after a period of hegemony, would split. I would then be a member of the more liberal party, no mater which one kept the Democratic Party label.

If the Bernie supporters are right, they're right. We shall see what we see, but, to me, it doesn't look like the revolution has gotten started quite yet.

Bernie would have been better served to tell those nasty bullies on his team to stand down, tell them STRONGLY it would not be tolerated. I have a friend who was bullied online and on the phone after she posted something anti BS on facebook. It was the most terrible thing, it has just this week begun to calm down a bit, but they have said "they know where she lives and works". It was reported to the police.

Some of his supporters are not nice people and they are the most out front for his candidacy. Then there is the young man I talk about in another post above who came to my door, very respectful. The bullies are the problem.

Mon Feb 17, 2020, 12:50 PM
Feb 2020

Who received 13.5 million votes in the last primary and we have these continued attempts to paint them all by what one or two alleged supporters "said" online.

This tactic is weak.

It is a fact of life that in every presidential election there are primary voters who don't vote for the nominee if their candidate loses. In recent history two primaries are notable. The 2008 primary between Barrack Obama and Hillary Clinton and the 2016 primary between Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders.

I would say that inarguably they were both nasty campaigns. The WAPO post an article after the last election that in part looked at this phenomenon. One of the survey groups YouGov had determined that in 2008 24% of Hillary voters ended up voting for John McCain. YouGov found that 12% of Sanders voters voted for tRump 2016. The articke cited another study that said the number was only 6%.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/monkey-cage/wp/2017/08/24/did-enough-bernie-sanders-supporters-vote-for-trump-to-cost-clinton-the-election/
I was Hillary supporter in 2008 and remember it well. Things got very nasty on the campaign trail and online.
In the end the PUMA movement was born

This go around it has been reported that there have been few if any negative ads between campaigns. What we have seen is other supporters claiming one or two Bernie supporters said this or that online.

Back when Kamala Harris was still in the race Hillary claimed that Sanders was attacking her. There seems to be no evidence of that. Hillary has since come out to publicly criticize Sanders Several more times.

If we trace where the bulk of the negative attacks are coming from in this campaign I doubt it will point to Bernie or his supporters.

He’ll just mealymouth some nonsense about “all campaigns need to stop” rather than address the undeniable fact that his campaign and his followers are uniquely over-the-top with this behavior.

And fuck Bloomberg. Can’t stand his ass.

while other candidates could not meet the criteria for continuing on in the race. Maybe it's time we face up to the fact that money buys everything. Nothing I can do about it. I vote and contribute what I can, when I can. But if we are going to have a party that represents working class people and minorities, we had better decide if this Democratic Party is headed in the right direction. Perhaps everyone feels the stakes are too high at this time in history.

Oh, I've heard that sentiment for AGES. It's like the entire reason for existence with regard to "Our Revolution" and "Justice Democrats". They've made it very clear what their intentions are.

He's not their horse. He's from left field. All on his own bc he doesn't need their money. But Bloomberg aside, I find this incredibly disturbing. The fact that Bernie doesn't say anything about this speaks volumes of himself. That's terrible!

... thinks the DNC puts Bloomberg up to attack Bernie... that may be Bloomberg's long-term goal, but right now he's hurting Biden and helping Bernie. He's another candidate splitting the "moderate" lane. The bridge burning attitude is a problem... hopefully Bernie will help figure out a way to solve the rage.
