Biden is our only locked in ticket to the Whitehouse.

If Biden can't carry it all the way then Klobuchar and Warren could still do it easy, perhaps little more risk.

Finally Pete or Bernie would be a gamble, but we might still make it with them.

But a billionairre Republican as Democratic nominee? I think some people have gone insane.

Sun Feb 23, 2020, 01:14 PM
Feb 2020

So you are also okay with sanders costing the Democrats control of the House and Kevin McCarthy being speaker?

THE TUMULTUOUS POLITICAL CLIMATE has given fresh hope to REPUBLICANS, who were privately skeptical of TRUMP’S prediction that House Minority Leader KEVIN MCCARTHY will be the next speaker come 2021. Internal polling commissioned by the NATIONAL REPUBLICAN CONGRESSIONAL COMMITTEE showed that voters in districts targeted by both parties are skeptical of SANDERS -- his approval rating is 42%, and disapproval stands at 53% -- which they believe will help boost their candidates for the House. In these districts, voters prefer TRUMP, 48% to 43%. If SANDERS is atop the ticket, Republicans believe, they can credibly label every Democrat a socialist without fear of overreach.

21. Anyone remember The New Deal, under FDR???
Mon Feb 17, 2020, 03:19 PM
Feb 2020

The New Deal was a series of programs, public work projects, financial reforms, and regulations enacted by President Franklin D. Roosevelt in the United States between 1933 and 1939. It responded to needs for relief, reform, and recovery from the Great Depression. Major federal programs and agencies included the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC), the Civil Works Administration (CWA), the Farm Security Administration (FSA), the National Industrial Recovery Act of 1933 (NIRA) and the Social Security Administration (SSA). They provided support for farmers, the unemployed, youth and the elderly. The New Deal included new constraints and safeguards on the banking industry and efforts to re-inflate the economy after prices had fallen sharply. New Deal programs included both laws passed by Congress as well as presidential executive orders during the first term of the presidency of Franklin D. Roosevelt.

The programs focused on what historians refer to as the "3 Rs": relief for the unemployed and poor, recovery of the economy back to normal levels, and reform of the financial system to prevent a repeat depression.[1] The New Deal produced a political realignment, making the Democratic Party the majority (as well as the party that held the White House for seven out of the nine presidential terms from 1933 to 1969) with its base in liberal ideas, the South, traditional[clarification needed] Democrats, big city machines and the newly empowered labor unions and non-whites and ethnic whites. The Republicans were split, with conservatives opposing the entire New Deal as hostile to business and economic growth and liberals in support. The realignment crystallized into the New Deal coalition that dominated presidential elections into the 1960s while the opposing conservative coalition largely controlled Congress in domestic affairs from 1937 to 1964.[2]

Or reduce its anti-Trump vote sufficient to have the rural downstaters win. Trump is despised like nobody I've yet seen in Chicago. He'll lose Chicago and most suburbs by 30 percentage points if he's lucky, by 40-45% if people are feeling particularly ornery. We hate his fucking guts.

No, we won’t. The states usually that go blue are not gonna suddenly gonna go for Trump because Bernie’s the nominee. I’d actually argue there wasn’t a single state Hillary won last time that Bernie would have lost or would lose this time. She didn’t expand the map at all. Make your case, but this kind of fear mongering is just stupid.

That would be a tough choice if it was an either/or decision but we are lucky in that we have 4 Democrats in contention to choose from.

You actually think all Hillary’s states except 5 will flip to Trump?

Evidence free, fear based defeatism.

Bloomberg said he will spend what it takes to defeat Trump, even if he isn’t the nominee, so let’s nominate Sanders and make Mike keep his promise.

This intrigues me. I have seen a ton of the oppo on sanders but would love to see more https://politicalwire.com/2020/02/18/bloomberg-campaign-hints-at-damaging-sanders-info/

Bloomberg campaign manager Kevin Sheekey tweets: “The opposition research on Bernie Sanders could fill Donald Trump’s empty Foxconn facility in Wisconsin.”

“It is very damaging, perhaps even disqualifying.”
