Delegates awarded proportionally: A mistake?

Do you think the DNC made a mistake there? After all, the GE is winner take all. I think this will just lead to a contested convention

There's a good reason for that.

There will not be a brokered convention in 2020, even though that is Sanders only chance of being the nominee.

Numbers don't lie.

Some other candidate will get to 1991 and Sanders will be done.

He may be done sooner. The man is ill and is looking at another heart attack at some point. Even if he has a heart attack, goes to the hospital, and is discharged, he is done at that point.

Possibly even overtake it.

Sanders' only hope is to take over 1000 and hope he has more than anybody else

A more granular distribution of delegates tends to ensure that the candidates who have walked through fire can help shape the nomination. It's parliamentary. I'm not afraid of parliamentary.

You would need several 3rd parties all garnering a significant amount of the vote for the winner to only receive 27%

Proportional allocation of delegates could be messy, but I think it’s democratic. I therefore support that method of awarding delegates in primary contests.

Mon Feb 17, 2020, 11:15 PM

Buttigieg 41
Sanders 24
Everyone else 0

Which is not an accurate reflection of how things stand. Instead, we have this:

Buttigieg 23
Sanders 21
Warren 8
Klobuchar 7
Biden 6

Which better represents where things are.

* - Iowa has always awarded their delegates by SDE, and not by popular vote.
