Democratic Primaries
Related: About this forumAs a Sander supporter, any Sanders supporter who will not unite behind any other Democrat
if Sanders doesn't get the nomination, really has no business being on DU, which is dedicated to getting Democrats elected. I think I speak for the vast majority of Sanders supporters here that we don't care for the disrupters or as may like to call "Bernie Bros" and we don't want to be associated with them. In another thread I talked about how I had to block another Sanders supporter on Facebook back in 2016 because she kept bashing Hillary after Sanders came up short. Her posts were driving me crazy and she was upset that I voted for Hillary a month early. These are fringe, nutty people who are out of their minds if they think another four years of Trump is better than the very fine candidates we have competing for the nomination. If that is who you are I don't want anything to do with you and I would recommend all of us Sanders folks who mean well, get in their face on Twitter or wherever and tell them they are not helping and making us who are dedicated to the party look bad.
I do want to point out that while I am back in the undecided column (I recently went back to undecided since it looked like Warren was struggling) Sanders is probably my first choice now but for the meantime I will wait for a while to see what unfolds before my primary arrives.
To the supporters of Biden, Klobuchar, Warren, Buttigieg, Stayer, Bloomberg etc. I got your back big time down the road if your candidate gets the nomination.

(13,058 posts)the nominee? I agree we need to bring the party together but just singling out one group of supporters is not helpful. There are also people who are saying that they won't unite behind Sanders as well.

(81,220 posts)WOW! What a great read! So says this still-staunch Hillary supporter who has trouble forgiving and forgetting, and who was one of many here and elsewhere on the receiving end of abuse from those Alpha Hotels you rightfully denounce.
Youre right. Those disrupters make the Bernie campaign look bad. People like you provide much-needed relief and restoration of faith. Because that hurt. And it STILL hurts. More so by the day while I watch in chagrin at the destruction and outright rape of our democracy, our institutions, and our precious Constitution. And its particularly painful, day after day, to have to keep facing the reality that none of those desecrations would have even been imaginable under a Hillary Clinton presidency.
I thank you deeply and happily.
Im really glad you wrote this.
I believe you.

(5,275 posts)Bernie, Bloomberg, Warren, Klobuchar, Biden, Mayor Pete.....or someone else. None of them are not an incalculable improvement over the Lying Scamming Deadbeat Low Life there now, a guy who is also dumb as a rock.
Mission 1 is getting rid of the Scam Artist Criminal in power now cause if we dont it might be game over for our democracy as we head for full bore autocratic fascism.

(9,650 posts)All I can really see is the big D after someone's name.
This week I'm using my absentee ballot to vote for the guy whose name is at the end of my post.
In November, whoever has that D after their name, that's who is getting my vote!
It's so simple.

(257 posts)And on the other side was an Earth where Dan Lipniski was the Democratic nominee he is getting my vote. 😉
The thing that drives me crazy is whoever the nominee is, many of the other candidates who ran will play significant parts in the future Dem administration. Whoever wins will need the other Dem candidates to get behind them and all we will care about is beating Trump.

(45 posts)If "all anyone cares about is beating Trump" is to become the new theme song I'm afraid it leaves out a huge number of very important issues . Like, millions without healthcare and the most expensive healthcare on the planet but the worst. Student loan debt crisis, and to say nothing of ending the oil wars. Just to name a few.

(16,685 posts)And yes his supporters tend to be the worst offenders. I'd chalk that up it to youth and political inexperience and coming of political age in an era where bad actors in the civic and political arena are not being held accountable. But we are all going to need each other and the continual bashing of someone's supporters is going to make that very difficult. I do wish he'd do away with his most divisive campaign staff. Despite the narrative there just aren't enough people out there devoted to him to outvote everyone else.

(65,173 posts)And I expect the same of others if Bernie gets the nomination. There are Bernie supporters out there who think Dems and Repukes are the same, and that Warren is some corporate shill. Those supporters just arent helping Bernie at all. We need to unite and win more so than any time I remember.
