Bloomberg to pregnant employee: "kill it"

Sorry but Bloomberg must not become our nominee. His attitudes toward woman are wrong in the post -me-too movement and he's also had racial issues. He should not be representing the Democratic party. All of the other choices are better. It's not enough to be better than Trump (a bar so low even most crooks and rapists would qualify):

https://www.businessinsider.com/bloomberg-asked-a-pregnant-employee-going-to-kill-it-2020-2

A former employee of Michael Bloomberg corroborated an accusation that the business mogul told a woman to "kill it" after she announced her pregnancy, according to The Washington Post.

Bloomberg, now a Democratic presidential candidate, has faced repeated faced accusations of directing sexist and crude comments to women at his company, Bloomberg LP, and previously denied that he told this to a female employee.

"He talked kind of crudely about women all the time," the former employee told The Washington Post.

If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden

A history of misogynistic remarks makes a weaker candidate. That's one reason I prefer other candidates over Bloomberg.
Biden has an old case of plagiarism.
Kobuchar has allegations of mistreating staff.
Buttigieg has allegations of indifference towards racial issues when he was mayor.
I'm kind of ok with Bloomberg, but I don't think he's the best.

I have a hard time believing that a sane person would say “kill it” to a female employee announcing her pregnancy at her workplace.
Some of the things I’m hearing about Democratic candidates are pretty unbelievable. I suspect at least some of this information is disinformation to target Democrats and influence the election.

The headline of the damn article is:

"Former employee says he heard Bloomberg ask a female co-worker if she was going to 'kill it'"

While certainly distasteful and inappropriate, it is QUITE DIFFERENT than TELLING a woman to 'kill it' as though he's ordering a damn hit.

This bullshit is getting really friggin old really quick.

The 'article', such as it is, disagrees with it's own headline, so I understand your confusion Belle to be clear.

BTW, per the article, this accusation first came up in a lawsuit regarding something else he said ... but apparently this employee is just now corroborating it, 20+ years later?

It just feels like every place is just rushing to bash Bloomberg as hard and fast as they can, they can't even be bothered to communicate properly.

FWIW, I find this a bit over the top and difficult to believe.

The rest of these harrassment allegations are definitely disturbing ... and seeming pretty believable.

I don't much care if he's talking about attractive women to other male employees, dudes are kinda like that. But telling a woman he'd 'do her' to her face, esp. since he's the owner ... is some pretty f***ing no-class sh*t.

The article headline lists a very inappropriate question, but the text implies an abhorrent order.

i had good bosses and bad bosses. i had a sweet old laborer tell me he hoped i would fall off a ladder and break my neck after i brushed him off. my boss took him to the woodshed.
then i got another boss who made it his mission to get rid of me. he didnt talk nasty, he just laid me off most fridays just to hire me back on monday. that's the part that made me quit.

if a boss waved his dick at any of my girls, they would likely take a big, hard bite.
and my son wanted to switch schools where he had a full boat doctorate over the way women were treated in the math dept.

this is war, and throughout human history people have given soldiers a lot of deference in their personal behavior. i see my fellow citizens choosing him. and i cheer his ads.

Yes, that would be harsh and crass, but not disqualifying like I would consider an outright order from the Boss to do so would be.

I need to understand the context to know how strongly I feel about this.

The woman was suing him for something else he said, this just came up apparently in the depositions. It's possible that she was under a lot of stress and was not recalling exactly how the conversation went down, or was embellishing in order to help win a sizable settlement. Those sorts of things CAN happen.

All of these candidates have racist/sexist baggage.

But Bloomberg at least was the moderate pro-choice mayor of a diverse city of 8 million people - all types of people he had to interact with. Many black/brown/female liberals he's worked with over the years, have endorsed him, etc. He's spend millions on liberal causes all over the country.

Basically, we have one issue - beat Trump, and at this point Bloomberg may be the only with the toughness, cash and appeal to moderates and independents to do it.

How can we credibly continue to call out Trump as a racist asshole when they can just respond with ‘stop and frisk’.

How can we credibly continue to call out Trump as a sexist asshole when they can just respond with Bloomberg’s own issues of sexism allegations?

How could we credibly continue to call for campaign finance reform, when they could respond with the fact our own billionaire spent unlimited money to win the nomination?

Bloomberg doesn’t help us defeat Trump, he cuts out from under our legs a lot of the arguments we have been making for the last 3 years.

People vote more on (a)what the candidate is now (b)what policies they will implement (c)can they kick ass and win.

As long as Bloomberg can defeat Trump and implement policies that help people, that's all that will matter.
