I agree. Hurt feelings from the outcome of said convention would greatly depress turnout.

If Bloomberg were really interested in getting rid of Trump, he could just run his ads, without attaching it to a formal candidacy. Or, even better, contributing to the Holder/Obama and Abrams initiatives (and any others) devoted to protecting voting rights and election integrity, as well as to congressional and local races.

7. And it's not only an Open Convention that could lead to deep divisions

It's also how we may get to an open convention, with one man using an unlimited mass marketing campaign to essentially buy his way directly to the finals. That might not in itself be highly controversial to Republican and Centrist voters, but it flies in the face of a central concern of many Democrats over the last decade, the ability of the Super Wealthy to buy our Democracy. Bloomberg the man and his views aside, that in itself is divisive inside of the Democratic coalition. If that split is put in the spotlight at a contested convention, it will be hard for enough scar tissue to cover the resulting wounds fast enough for more than grudging subsequent unity to replace the bitterness.

Democratic Governor is signing a bill that will allow any registered voter to change their party registration on election day.

What is next, to let everyone but Democrats determine who the Democratic nominee should be!!! Nothing would shock anymore

for his straight up savaging of the NRA in 18 and 19. He also dropped 25 million on stare races. Bloomberg will beat Trump at his own game.
