Bloomberg campaign manager Kevin Sheekey tweets: The opposition research on Bernie Sanders could fill Donald Trumps empty Foxconn facility in Wisconsin.
It is very damaging, perhaps even disqualifying.

If true, it must be really really damaging. Anyone here could run an effective oppo research campaign against Sanders from what we already know.

The Republicans had at least four other damning Sanders videos (I dont know what they showed), and the opposition research folder was almost 2-feet thick. (The section calling him a communist with connections to Castro alone would have cost him Florida.) In other words, the belief that Sanders would have walked into the White House based on polls taken before anyone really attacked him is a delusion built on a scaffolding of political ignorance.

The Bernie haters are practically salivating, and are certain its true. Everyone else knows its either BS, or it only matters if it is revealed, and gets on with their lives.
Clinton shouldve had it, if it existed. Nothing. If Boomer-berg thinks he has something, put up or shut up.

(20,709 posts)I actually don't think it would work, it would just make the Dem electorate more disgusted with Bloomberg. Which is good, because there's no path to the White House for Bloomberg if he goes on a smear campaign against the most popular candidate in the field. Turnout among Dems would fall through the floor.

(144,005 posts)sanders is a very weak candidate and would be easy for trump to destroy. In addition to the well written 101 page memorandum with oppo on sanders with a 1000 pages of backup from the Clinton campaign trump has his own oppo file on sanders that would destroy such a weak and divisive candidate like sanders.
Link to tweet
trump had a two foot thick book of oppo research on Sanders http://www.newsweek.com/myths-cost-democrats-presidential-election-521044
So what would have happened when Sanders hit a real opponent, someone who did not care about alienating the young college voters in his base? I have seen the opposition book assembled by Republicans for Sanders, and it was brutal. The Republicans would have torn him apart. And while Sanders supporters might delude themselves into believing that they could have defended him against all of this, there is a name for politicians who play defense all the time: losers....
The Republicans had at least four other damning Sanders videos (I dont know what they showed), and the opposition research folder was almost 2-feet thick. sanders was such a weak primary candidate that the Clinton campaign did not use its oppo but trump would have fun destroying such a weak candidate like sanders
I look forward to seeing the additional oppo

(32,017 posts)I was suspicious about the recent buzz regarding a possible Clinton VP pick. I could not help but suspect that the Bloomberg folks launched that rumor themselves as either a trial balloon or as a warning to Hillary to keep her opinion out of the nomination process this year. Now we see this. Opposition research on Bernie that is possibly disqualifying? That I seriously doubt. Bernie's not perfect, but I doubt that there's anything in his closet that even approaches the mountain of sexual harassment claims that have been filed against Bloomberg.
It's like Sheekey is just testing the water, here. I will believe his opposition research when I see it, and, even then, I may not believe it. Looks like Bloomberg wants to use the circular firing squad to his advantage. His strategy may be to take out his opponents with unsubstantiated rumors ... one at a time ... around the circle.
Hmm ...
