(94,333 posts)Sanders is complaining that Bloomberg isn't competing in the early States (hence not spending money) and is emphasizing his personal billions (hence not raising money).

(115,586 posts)He made a tactical decision to advertise in states where he'd get a bigger bang for his many bucks, but he certainly could have afforded to have campaigned there if he'd wanted to. I think what he was doing was trying to divert the attention of voters in other states away from the other candidates while they were tied up in IA and NH. If I'm in SC, for example, I don't give a poop what's going on in NH.

Does pointing it out to people mean hes crying unfair?
Or are we all just used to billionaires enough now to just not see this as in anyway undemocratic.

(115,586 posts)If you're persuaded by his advertising you might vote for him. I would hope people won't be suckered by anybody's advertising and will rely on something besides that to decide for whom to vote. But Bloomberg isn't buying your vote. He's buying access to your brain and your emotions - which is what advertising is intended to do - and you can resist or ignore the message if you choose.
