Bernie hate needs to stop and soon

If anyone pays attention ...reads & watches the news . Not the talking heads but the Analytical speakers, you would realize that the nomination process is pretty much over.

There is only a slight small chance Bernie will not be the nominee. It is pretty much a lock Bernie is going to be the nominee.

Really the only chance is if all the moderate type of Candidates agree to drop out of the race after Nevada and leave One moderate. That’s pretty much it.

And with the egos of the candidates we know that won’t happen.

The other thing is the candidate that would need to stay in to have a chance to beat Sanders is Biden. Latest poll shows Bernie head to head against Bloomberg he crushes him 57% to 37%. Against Pete 54% to 38%.

Biden is truly the only moderate to have a chance against Sanders and also shows he is the strongest against Trump.

Problem is Bloomberg with all his money will never drop out. And if Biden even places 2nd in Nevada and 1st in SC he will not have the money to compete on Super Tuesday 3 days later.

My point is while it might seem early in the process all the people that study this process and run the numbers all believe Bernie is getting the nomination.

Bernie is looking at getting over 200 Delegates Just in California. A number that will be almost impossible to over take.

Biden will be broke and will not be able to fight him off. And if Biden drops out. Bernie beats Bloomberg head to head pretty easy.

I know I will vote for Bernie over Bloomberg in PA. But if it’s Biden and Bernie I would really have to think about which direction to go. Even though I align more with Bernie I’m scared he might not win. That Biden is the safer choice to remove Trump.

But it’s not coming down to that because nobody will drop out. Bernie is almost certainly going to be the nominee, so putting him down and trashing Bernie at this point only helps elect Trump.

If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:

And calling the Democratic party "corrupt" and "morally bankrupt" and "a complete failure" is visionary? Or is that actually what's "short sighted" and is that what's ACTUALLY the cause of division and resentment and suspicion? The continued smears and attacks on the party only serve to divide and weaken the party. Why is THAT okay with you, but the pressure on a single candidate the "end of the world"?

All I'm saying is that the attacks and smears only generate negativity toward the party and Democrats. Negativity generates apathy. Apathy discourages voter turnout. Low voter turnout gives Republicans a chance to steal the elections.

Why is anyone defending that? Why doesn't anyone speak out against that with the same resolve as they do for BS?

What he's saying is unforgivable. It serves NO good purpose.

Such tribal cocerns
Tribal? GMAFB! Such short sightedness! You've got to WIN and defeat the GOP before the other things can be addressed. Democrats can't win if the rest of the voting populace is continually being told that the Democrats are "corrupt" and a "failure" and "no different than the GOP" (etc.) It give nobody incentive to support Democrats, or vote for Democrats. It creates division and suspicion and resentment within the party and it always weakens us. That type of negativity generates apathy. Apathy discourages voter turnout. Low voter turnout gives Republicans a chance to steal the elections.

The Green New Deal is the Deal young people care about.
You won't get there if someone is continually smearing and denigrating and dividing the ONLY PARTY that can defeat the GOP. What good purpose does it serve?

Feb 2020

There will be one surviving centrist who will pick up votes from those than cannot abide either Bernie or Bloomie, but I don't know who that would be.

If Biden gets a clear win in SC, it will help him in Southern states on Super Tuesday. If Buttigieg has had an upsurge in contributions following his showings in Iowa and New Hampshire, he could have enough money to coast on past Super Tuesday. If Klobuchar can continue her upswing in Nevada, and hold her own in SC, then maybe she will be the last moderate standing after Super Tuesday. If Steyer's gambit on SC pays off, he has the money to stay in the race beyond ST.

More stuff is pouring out about Bloomberg every day, and his recent bounce is probably a "fresh face" phenomenon. After the truths about his relationships with various parts of the Democratic electorate come out and are well known, he will lose luster.

In the next two weeks, a lot will change about the Democratic nomination contest.

Wed Feb 19, 2020, 02:38 PM
Feb 2020

Right now is our chance to stop the freight train before it derails and kills us all.

Bernie at the top of the ticket will be a wipe out up and down the ballot. The House majority could be gone, any chance of the Senate will be gone, and most importantly - Trump will have another unfettered 4 years to destroy what's left of the Republic.

This is life and death.

If we nominate Bernie, Trump wins. He'll get all of the votes of Democratic Underground folks like us. He will lose 30 states in the BEST case scenario among the wider electorate.

We're committing party (and country) suicide by nominating him. So anyone who is trying to stop that while we still have a chance is not "hating" - we're trying to save ourselves from ourselves.

(although I follow the news and the polls fairly closely) But it is my instinct that those numbers won't hold up after the Republican machine absolutely eviscerates Sanders employing his own words and record in the general. And .. sadly .. I think a lot of voters (in the states you point to and elsewhere) are going to look at our nominee and say, "You know, Trump really stinks .. but this guy is dangerous!"

39 of the 41 red seats that we flipped to blue were in districts that are purple. These districts can't be won with just the "base".

All of those suburban moderates that flocked to us in 2018 to win those districts will NOT vote for Bernie Sanders. With him at the top of the ticket, we depress that vote.

Those 39 freshman Democrats that gave us control are *ALL* at risk if Bernie is our standard bearer.

Pete went from 11% to 25% in Iowa in *2 weeks*.

Biden went from 35% to 18% nationwide in 2 months.

A *LOT* can happen between now and March 3rd. Bloomberg has gone from 0% to 20% in the blink of an eye. In 3 more weeks, he could be 10% ahead of everybody. Or he could collapse.

Events aren't static. Changes happen that rock the electorate, especially when 30% are undecided. A good debate performance quadrupled Klobuchar's support in a couple days in NH. A bad debate performance tonight could kill Bernie's momentum in SC and the Super Tuesday states. A candidate or two could drop out and put their support up for grabs. A candidate could have a health emergency or a major scandal erupt.

Polls taken in December look pretty silly now in February. Polls taken today might similarly look silly by March 3rd.

No, the OP is stating that Sanders is the inevitable winner, and equating anyone opposing him or criticizing him as 'shitting shitting all over the guy" and "hating" him... and they are just "helping Trump."

Did you miss these parts - the ones pushing a coronation before the third state primary contest has begun?

premature in the text you copied. The primary is sure as hell not over. But it is currently leaning in the direction where Sanders may well end up being the nominee.

I'm all for criticism. I didn't get the impression that the OP is trying to prevent Democrats from being critical of one another (and that's certainly not going away, even if he were). Criticism is good. It sharpens us, clarifies our message and ideology, and prepares us for the discussions to come, especially the ones that are not 'on our side' / in the general election. It's just that criticism and needless bashing don't seem like the same thing to me. Let's leave the actual bashing to the other side and make them at least work for it.. no sense helping them there.

But I’m also a realist. He doesn’t have the national pull to win when Super Tuesday hits. He has been screwed on media attention that he deserved to get. First with the Iowa debacle the after NH. The media made Amy sound like some winner finishing a distant 3rd when Pete almost upset Sanders in his own backyard. Now they cover Bloomberg nonstop.

And if you notice my post I’m actually saying to stop Bernie then you need to back Biden.

The working class and low-income voters have decided whom their Champion will be... and its Bernie!! The fact is Bernie's inevitable... the polls are clear on this, as are the overflowing crowds attending Bernie's rallies.

It's obviously futile to deny this simple fact and to keep expressing anger over it, as that only serves to divide us and, in the process, help tRumpy The Clown... better to just accept that it's inevitable that Bernie will be our Democratic nominee and unite around electing Bernie to be our next President!!

Anti-Trump sentiment runs strong through independent voters. If it's a choice between the orange headed buffoon and Bernie, there will be more Bernie voters. Trump''s toast. His base is all he has, he won't get independents in any significant number

But really, if Democrats will work to activate dormant segments of their voter base, especially in the southern states, like Doug Jones did in his special election, Democrats won't have to rely on anyone but themselves to turn out and win this thing.

"I love Pete. I think he is the best person to be President. I have given to his campaign. I have my fingers crossed he pulls off a 2nd place finish in Nevada.

My point is that Bernie is on his way to winning. That we should stop bashing him because he is almost certainly going to be the nominee."

Do you even kind of get how offensive that is to the Democratic base that is pissed as hell that HRC had so many obstacles, Sanders and his supporters being one of them, and still came out with 3 million votes? Do you get how offensive it is that a Sanders staffer would rewrite history and say we had to hold our nose for THE most qualified President ever, that was cheated and faced misogyny?

Sanders staffer today said that Democratic voters we like birthers because we want Sanders to hold up his pledge. His promise. To release his medical records before the primaries. Do you get how insulting it is for his people to say Democrats are Birthers?

Rational critique is the Democratic tool.

FYI a quarter of the vote is insufficient to become the nominee. Senator Sanders needs to improve on that before claiming squatters' rights to the nomination.

Otherwise, Bernie is adorable in an un-scrubbed kind of way. On the other hand, his legislative record is thin, even considering his amendment strategy.

Most importantly, if you believe folks being upset Bernie disses the Democratic Party is hate, just wait for the GOP trolling machine to revv up. A tough primary makes our nominee stronger.

When anyone else in the race is criticized, it’s just that – criticism of their policies, statements, past conduct, etc. It’s only Bernie supporters who think ‘hatred’ has anything to do with whether people support him or not.

It’s all too reminiscent of someone else whose supporters think it’s just baseless ‘hatred’ that causes people not to support him.

So for those of us who don’t support Bernie, how close are we to being called Never-Berners?

And BTW, Bernie’s constant whining about how everything is ‘rigged against him’, everyone is ‘out to get him’, and how the media is always ‘mean to him’ doesn’t help his cause. Again, we’ve been hearing THAT story from someone else for four years now.

When many of the people Sanders surrounds himself with considered Clinton worse than Trump in 2016.

You don't think democrats should be annoyed at the prospect of being lectured to by Jill Stein supporters? By people who helped put us into this mess in the first place?

That's on Sanders campaign 100%. That is not the fault of any democrat who has been voting democrat for election after election.

I don't think its hubris that Sanders ran so much this time around as it's MAJOR hubris that he chose once again to surround himself with people who didn't really consider Trump to be that big of a threat in the first place. It negates his message, and if he gets the nomination, he really needs to change the people who work around him.

What I am afraid of is that if somehow Bernie does not get the nomination that his supporters will all stay home and pout for the rest of the campaign and on election day, handing the country to Trump on a silver platter. If that happens you can stick a fork in us, because we will be well done.

At this point all I want is the person who can beat Trump to get the nod, however, regardless my first choice, I will work like hell for any Democratic candidate, running for any office. I just hope that all of the candidates, and all of the candidates supporters feel the same way; our future will depend on it. Even if we all work together we will have a hell of a hard time beating Trump, the Russians, Fox News the NRA and a couple of hundred million angry fascists who think that they are American patriots.

If you are anywhere left of political center you may well be in personal danger if Trump wins again. You better believe that there are lot of Americans who would be happy to relocate liberals and other untermench to the East.

149. If it drops down to three moderate nominees, Bernie will lose to one of them.

They will prevent Bernie from getting a majority of delegates on the first ballot. In fact, before the first ballot even begins, the three moderates will determine who among them will be the moderate candidate (probably the one with the majority of pledged delegates among the moderates). The others will then drop out and ask their pledged delegates to vote for the moderate candidate. That candidate will then have a majority of pledged (voted for by voters) delegates and will win on the first ballot.

I will vote for him... right after I leave the Democratic party and update my passport.

Electoral college wise, Bernie will have his ass handed to him in November.

I doubt he will even win the popular vote.

And we Democrats will look every bit the idiots we are for not protecting our democracy.

have refrained this primary from criticizing any of the other candidates. That is exactly what the rethuglicans want us to do. We need to be a united front if we are to defeat fascism. Trump is dangerous and we are running around eating our own instead of having trump for lunch. Bernie will probably win. Get over it just like i did in 16 and vote for the democratic nominee. .

Right now as Sanders is starting to pull into the lead we are seeing denial and anger. If it becomes clear he is going to win there will be more anger and depression and then finally acceptance and at that point we will be a team again.

It's pointing out that he isnt a Democrat and will get steamrolled by Trump electorally. A Democratic Socialist being the nominee of our party is disturbing to many of us. Bernie will cost us House seats. I've worked campaigns in the southeast for 25 years. Hes unelectable here and toxic to moderates in house seats.
