It is hard for me to say this about Amy,

but she has shown that she has a mean streak. She can’t seem to tolerate being challenged by Pete and responds to him with a derisive tone that is very unbecoming to her.

If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden

she is lying. She didn't oppose 2/3 of his judges that is a total, utter, and complete lie. She did support more of them than every single, solitary Senator who ran (not just the two on that stage). She supported more than Booker did, Harris did, Bennet did, Gillibrand did, and of course Sanders and Warren did. She should try being honest for a change.

I see a "mean streak" in men being thoroughly condescending to her and belittling her experience. Pete suggested her years in the Senate were equal to his as mayor of a town in Indiana -- that is simply absurd. She was accused of horrible things, she was not allowed to respond, and even when she was responding, Pete interrupted her TWICE!!

THAT is just obnoxious.

primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden

Female at the top of the ticket should.

Refreshing prospect of rational people (instead of a narcissistic lunatic) in charge of the federal government should.

Broadcasters with regional accents strive to sound like midwesterners, because it gives them a more national appeal.

She won't get some random post-debate bump again tonight. I don't know why she has hung around this long to begin with. It's at the point where she is going to start getting negative returns after taking the beating that she did tonight. If she finishes 5th (or worst) in the next two contests, she needs to bow out before Super Tuesday and help keep the dreaded democratic socialist from amassing delegates assisted by what will be a spoiler candidacy for her at that point.

I always go back to the “rumors” that she treats her staff badly.

She is a fighter. That is good, BUT.

If it turns off people she needs to work with, then we have a problem.

Leaders bring people together.

I see Liz doing that.

I thought she stood her ground and defended her record. She proved she's a fighter. Every female candidate for President gets accused of this same thing in debates. Meanwhile the men get to yell and imterrupt all night. wish Hillary would have showed some of this emotion when she debated Bernie and Trump in 2016.

Warren and Klobuchar both did great tonight. IMO.

83. I've seen that in her, and my first instinct

is to recoil from it. But I’ve been saying we need someone who will fight back and fight dirty and I think we goddamn need a Dem with a mean streak. It is a natural trait for Dems to be turned off by meanness, but we have to fight fire with fire. For this go’round, I embrace the mean streak. We’ve got to give as good as we’re getting from the playground bullies and speak to them in the only way they understand. They laugh at compassion, reason and understanding. I say “Go, Amy” and be an unmitigated bitch.

Edited to add: I saw her on Real Time last week, and she would not shut up. Or, to look at it from another point of view - Bill tried to talk over her and she wasn’t having it. And my reaction was to dislike her for it. And then I remembered she’s exactly what I’ve been asking for, for years, and I made the conscious decision to support her and that quality about her that I don’t like. For once we need that person who’s kind of an asshole, but takes no shit - and she’s on our side.

to push so hard on Amy forgetting a name.

Plus, we need someone with a little bit of a mean streak. I don't think it is her most prominent streak, but being willing to fight back is important, even if she came off condescending in this particular instance. That streak will come in very handy if she is up against Trump.

I think Pete might have been hard on Amy in return for the cartoon accusation in the NH debate. That was a lie and it cost Pete votes. Let’s be honest here, she belittles him and treats him with contempt. It was his right to be hard on her.

Tonight didn’t change my opinion of Amy because it always seems like she was just Minnesota Nice.

On the other hand I don’t think she was very condescending to Pete’s attacks. Pete opened himself up to her replies by impugning her.

Last night was about two candidates operating in the same space.
