We were willing to be open-minded. I kind of liked the idea that he put *his* money where his mouth is, not begging everyone for cash.

However, he failed.

His answers were evasive and at no point did he state what he stood for. He missed multiple opportunities to defuse the situation, or even turn it around to his advantage, and he was always on the defensive. If he didn't know that was all coming, then either he, or his advisors were really off base. He'll have another chance at the next debate, but this was definitely not a good, or even fair night.

He was expected to perform in this one better than he did.

https://gothamist.com/news/bloombergs-past-debate-opponents-have-a-warning-for-democratic-candidates-dont-underestimate-him

Former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg knows his way around a debate stage. In his three previous bids for office, he faced off against competitors more than half a dozen times, both as a Republican and then later an Independent. His former rivals say that while Bloomberg might not shine on the debate stage, he certainly comes prepared.

Running for president as a Democrat, Bloomberg will suit up for the primary debate on Wednesday night—his first time facing five other candidates—thanks to a tweak last month to the national party’s debate qualification rules.

While Bloomberg officially qualified for the debate on Tuesday morning, when the latest NPR/PBS Newshour/Marist poll showed him with 19% support nationally, second only to Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders, the NY Times reports that his campaign has been steadily prepping him to take the stage, running mock debates with stand-in candidates.

While his style is crisp and sometimes curt, those who have debated him before said the billionaire businessman’s minimalism should not be underestimated.

Bloomberg’s lack of national debate experience showed and he wasn't quick on retorts to Warren's attacks. His team needs to prep him better so he can anticipate the criticisms and talking points about his anti-women comments and harmful racial policies while he was mayor. Hopefully he’ll take to better coaching next time and have retorts handy. He also needs to speak more forcefully and confidently, and project leadership qualities as he did when he was mayor. I think a good strategy would be to point out all that he accomplished during his 3 terms as mayor of NY. He’s a darn good leader and we need someone with his caliber and status in the WH. That's IF Biden is not the nominee of course.

for me, as you so graciously put it.

He changed to the Republican Party at around the time today's GOP was turning into what it has become; the real changes came in 1994 with Newt Gingrich, for anyone who was paying attention. I give Bloomberg credit for recognizing the brokenness of the GOP and changing to an Independent. But it took him until AFTER Barack Obama's Admin to return to the Democratic Party.

Why AFTER Obama? Why not before then or even during that Admin when Obama was facing a literal wall of GOP opposition? Perhaps only to run for President in 2020? Hmmm. To me, that smacks of being a "Democrat of convenience," much as Sanders does whenever he runs for President, but NOT for his Senate seat. For Bloomberg, it's also not just the party changes. It's the timing.

So while you may be a supporter, I am NOT one.

And that's that. Period.

She should be VP on the ticket.

I have come to GREATLY admire her over the last year. She takes no s*it from anyone, and she's remarkably down to earth in an extremely intellectual but folksy way. Because she HAS PERSISTED, she has my admiration and potentially my vote going forward.

(I didn't see the debate, but I heard bits on the radio).
