Democratic Primaries
Related: About this forumDems unwittingly gave up WH tonight
Unless everything does a complete turnaround.
Instead of concentrating exclusively on the monster in the WH, they fought against Bloomberg. How silly and shortsighted and stupendously inane. The guy who's spending MILLIONS on ads against the greatest threat to life as we know it? And we attack? Whoever Dems are paying for strategy advice - they are paying too much.
Honestly have absolutely zero ideas on how to turn this ship around. But, bet Carville or Bill Clinton know.
Meanwhile trump marches on with his criminality. And our side says, " not gonna go after anything except maybe judge tampering.".

Lot can happen between now and Nov.
Both Bidens and Warren gave strong performance.
Even Pete showed good instinct.
We still got great chances.

(13,776 posts)But having embarrassed himself in front of Trump and everybody, he may go ahead and spend the money to defeat Trump, both as a saving-face thing to still beat Trump and a hero thing for Democrats.
I hope thats what will happen anyway. But yeah, yikes... I hope their attacks on him dont backfire.

(374 posts)This fight had to happen.
The field had to narrow.
Bloomberg would be a disaster as a nominee, the best thing that could possibly happen in this race is for him to drop out so the real candidates can fight it out.
Probably good that Pete and Amy tanked too.
primary today, I would vote for: Joe Biden
They had to take Bloomberg out. There isn't a lot of time left and he should not become the nominee. He was threat to all of them.

(4,915 posts)He did horrible. How did he not prepare for what was thrown at him. He could have paid me a 100 grand and I would have prepared him for those points because I knew they were coming. How did he or his prep people not know.
My thought? They did know. This is as good as he can get in addressing those things.

(6,544 posts)What's clear is that they are agreed on most topics, and as far as attacking Trump, what's the point. They would be preaching to the choir. Yes, it was a lot more forceful than in the past, but in the end, this is *nothing* compared to what Trump will be be doing

(30,540 posts)being horrid. We don't need to hear each Democratic candidate say it continually, save it for the GE. Differentiating yourself from the Democratic pack is what's important now for the candidates. That way the voters can choose who's up to defeating Trump..

(6,974 posts)Because Warren had every right to go after him on stop and frisk which was horrible for minorities.
But why oh WHY didn't Liz go after the crazy, treasonous, wanna-be billionaire, clown-car in the White House at the same time? WHY didn't Warren say Well, I never heard anything about you stealing monies from Veterans or Cancer patients like tRump did via his charity. Good lord, because for as bad as Bloomberg may be, and he's NO saint whatsoever, the treasonous, racist, hog installed into our White House with the help of his puppet-master putin and the rest of his party of putin is 10 x's worse than Bloomberg is, because for as bad as Bloomberg is on a lot of things, I don't ever recall him asking the ruskies help for anything. In fact, Bloomberg did in some ways help Dems win the Congress with his monies, and if we hadn't have won the Congress, tRump's mission of turning the USA into the USSR would nearly be complete. That hog has never, ever done ANYTHING to help anybody but himself.
PLEASE Dems, focus on the orange manage in the White House.
As for the press, I don't recall them asking tRump about sexual assault or about how his charity was shut down et al. Nope, the corporate media is not going to go after tReasonous fat ass, or ask him questions like they asked Dems tonight. They have learned NOTHING from 2016 and "But her emails."

YES. There are literally a zillion trump jabs to pick from.
Its almost like someone has told them they will get fined if they talk trump.
Heard a Dem strategist on debate night 1 say it should be 1/2 about yourself and half about who you are running against - trump. That's what you should allow people to imagine - what you'd be like against him.

I don't like Bloomberg but I'm not counting him out yet. The candidates are fighting for the nomination, which is what primaries are for. Everybody already agrees that Trump sucks.

(30,807 posts)They are competing with each other right now and the best at doing so will win. Primaries are supposed to weed out the weakest candidates and leave us with the one who can best go on to attack Trump in the GE.
We need to be evaluating their ideas and how well they express and defend them. Thankfully, the primaries will be over in due course and we can focus on attacking Trump at that time.

(8,659 posts)I know Bloomberg has alot serious issues but to relentlessly attack him was not the right or smart thing to do. He has decided to be on our side and is willing to spends his billions to help us win. With what happened last night, few will take him or his ads seriously. Trump just jumped up several notches and it may indeed cost us the WH.

(84 posts)At this moment I don't think that any of the candidates have the star factor.
So my fantasy is that whomever wins the primary immediately announces that all of the dem contenders will havè a chance to fill the new cabinet or posts of their choice or their expertise.
Like Warren for treasury, Biden Sec of state, Harris attorney general etc.
No disenchanted voters hopefully.
Needs to be announced and promoted day after the primary to build momentum and have time to form a coalition- of adults in the rooms.
Yea, I know. Lame.
