Democratic Primaries
Related: About this forumNext morning quarterbacking about the debates.
Looks like Elizabeth Warren clearly won because the moderates and Republicans like Morning Joe are Debbie Downers, asking why didn't they concentrate on Trump instead of each other. So it looks like their favored candidates took a hit.
Folks, we're at the end of the primaries and the candidates had one last chance to define their positions. And those who aren't the moderate media's darlings may have stood strong on their positions because they know, either they have a target on their backs, or the media is just too ready to ghost them.
I don't think it's feasible to expect these candidates to be passive when they had one chance to clarify their positions and show the voters the differences between each other. Seriously, how else do you do that if not speak up for yourself? If you don't, the media will decide for us who can beat Trump based on polls and their own bias, which really sucks since polls can be tweaked.
And, really, Bloomberg coming in late without proper vetting? It was the candidates' responsibility to take the gloves off and get him up to speed.

(139 posts)I'm flipping through the morning shows and feel like I'm missing something or more accurately the morning shows are missing something. My debate notes don't align with much of their "analysis" but I think we can all agree Bloomberg was crushed.

(30,811 posts)There was something about recovering from a bad debate performance; I was barely listening.
It's annoying how they fixate on a candidate and then push, rather than watch the contest as it plays out.

(16,616 posts)I was surprised by some of the opinions, and you can see how influential these voices are as their opinions harden and solidify into a "consensus."
There is a story on the WaPo that seems to have been written in real time that captures the debate really well.
I'll be interested to see if others have a different idea about what happened last night. Or maybe everyone saw the debate almost exactly the same way as the morning talkers?
