As Democrats try to figure out whos their best candidate to nominate for president, Congresswoman Lois Frankel sees Florida as a Joe Biden or Mike Bloomberg state.
Not so much Bernie Sanders, she said.
Frankel, a Democrat who represents most of Palm Beach County, isnt yet ready to endorse any of her partys presidential candidates though some have asked and said she doesnt know if she will announce a choice before Floridas March 17 presidential primary.
I think Biden and Bloomberg are more in tune with Floridians. But I dont want to discount anybody, Frankel said Tuesday during an interview with the South Florida Sun Sentinel Editorial Board, adding that shed put Pete Buttigieg and Amy Klobuchar in the in-tune-with-Florida category if they were better known
Frankels top priority is for her party to find and nominate the candidate who has the greatest chance of defeating Trump in November
But, she said, the most powerful 2020 motivator will be voters views of Trump both for people who dont like the president and for people who want to see him re-elected. What I think is going to drive people to the polls is Donald Trump

The others are "too far out there"
I guess we can be in denial and rely on turnout. When Andrew Gillum was senselessly shoved ahead of Gwen Graham in the 2018 Democratic primary we were told that we should be rejoicing, that Florida had finally abandoned the safe moderate approach, that Gillum would inspire youth turnout and overall Democratic enthusiasm.
Meanwhile the electorate matter of factly decided Gillum was simply too liberal for the state. And that nominee almost certainly took down Bill Nelson in the senate seat as well. Just imagine the Republicans screaming socialist at Gwen Graham. It would have been hilarious. It attached fully to Andrew Gillum, especially among South Florida Hispanics.
None of this Bernie Sanders stuff is theoretical when you've already experienced it. And Gillum was running against a joke like Ron DeSantis. Donald Trump is going to give that socialist rant far more effectively and unapologetically than DeSantis ever did.
