(28,836 posts)Hasn't been one since 2007 and even then, it was only as a tactical move.
Second, a liberal Republican wasn't going to get far against Trump. No one was likely to get far against Trump.

Bloomberg was a Republican in 2003, having registered with the party to run for mayor in 2001. He served two terms as a Republican before becoming an independent in 2007, ahead of his third mayoral bid.
Though he spoke at the 2016 Democratic convention in favor of then-presidential candidate Hillary Clinton, Bloomberg did not re-register as a Democrat until 2018.

I could be mistaken
But I thought some state parties passed new rules to make primarying trump not possible? Even so, he would get crushed. Sitting President still wildly popular with the goons. Hed beat Weld though.
And its still mostly winner take all last I checked. Maybe he picks up a state. Even here in the Northeast Moderate Republican area, there is no such thing. Theyre all fucking maniacs. The old New England Republicans are now Democrats or unaffiliated.

(2,870 posts)some even cancelled primaries, there's no way. I don't think even the hundreds of millions he has spent so far could have penetrated the cloud around tRump's Kool-Aid drinkers.

(12,533 posts)The man is too socially progressive to ever fit inside the Flying Monkey Brigade. He wouldn't do any better than Weld.
That being said, I understand Weld took 9.1% in NH. Just enough to be an irritant.
