Would the moderates and progressives both be happy?

(4,484 posts)Assuming the other candidates trade their delegates for specific things. I could see Buttigieg and Biden instructing their delegates to vote for Warren in exchange for Buttigieg as VP. (Biden seems to like Buttigieg a good deal, and I don't think Biden wouldn't want the VP slot himself.) I could see Klobuchar trading in for a prominent cabinet position befitting her impressive resume... IF she wanted it, that is. Also, I think Sanders would choose to stay in the Senate but would demand some pretty lofty policy promises in exchange for any of his delegates.
Again, this is all just random speculation about a hypothetical scenario in which Warren is the candidate who's chosen during a brokered convention.

(1,300 posts)am leaning strongly towards Bernie, I would be ok with it but many would be not be satisfied if anyone else got the nomination if Bernie got a plurality. I think we should have a national primary with a ranked choice ballot, end this nonsense with delegates!! How can we complain about the electoral college when we have this byzantine system?
I will say she seems to be in an ideological sweet spot for the party. To the right of Bernie but to the left of the others.
In addition she is very smart and qualified. She is not doddering (sorry but he is) like Biden or too young and inexperienced like Pete.
I think she is a 2nd choice for a lot of people and the last choice of very few.

(6,278 posts)As a Warren supporter, I'd be happy enough if, say, Klobuchar came out winner of a brokered convention.
In the end, I'd be happy enough with anyone so long as they win in November.

(35 posts)That's the Warren I was donating to years ago. Whoever that husk of a candidate was this fall needs to stay gone and maybe fire that campaign adviser that tried to soften her. She showed me the fight is still in here so she'd be a most excellent compromise candidate.

(649 posts)Yes, I like Liz on the issues.
But mainly I like her tenaciousness. She fights for her constituency and her core beliefs.
And thats what we need at this juncture. A fighter. A president who will not kowtow to the special interests.
And a woman who will win in November and send rump packing.

(4,484 posts)She's not my first choice, but she's a brilliant mind, a sharp linguist, and a strong fighter.
To win the White House, she might have to hit harder than Biden would, but I have no doubt she'd dish out every punch she could.

(43,116 posts)rather than feints from the left to try to appear left of center. So her policy agenda is very much like the state she is from, Massachusetts, and historically very much within the American mainstream. Plus she is earnest in her beliefs and has credibility because she explains things that will stand up to scrutiny.

(15,641 posts)theres a lot of ground to cover before the convention? Maybe. It depends on the delegate counts going in and trust levels at the time. Building trust and acceptance if not respect between the two cohorts as well as between other Sanders supporters and other Dems generally would certainly help. Thats on all of us.
