Washington Lt. Governor Cyrus Habib endorses Pete Buttigieg for president

Washington's Lieutenant Gov. Cyrus Habib has endorsed ex-South Bend, Indiana, Mayor Pete Buttigieg for the Democratic presidential nomination and will co-chair Mayor Pete's campaign in Western states.

"If Democrats are going to win this presidential race, we need a candidate who can unite the country while delivering on progressive promises," Habib said in a statement.

"Having known and worked with Pete for 15 years, I have every confidence that he is the candidate that will defeat Donald Trump. Pete is offering a fresh perspective with a vision to move this country forward." Habib is an Iranian-American who was elected lieutenant governor in 2016. He presides over the Washington State Senate.

Buttigieg has paid three visits as a candidate, but has stuck to fundraisers, the path of 2016 Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton. He has held one low-budget event at the Showbox Theater, which drew 1,100 people. He was in Seattle last Saturday for an event at the Bell Harbor Conference Center. It was hosted by two big Democratic donors, ex-U.S. Ambassador Suzi Levine and her husband Eric, founder and CEO of Cellular Tracker. The firm is the world's largest collector of wine reviews.

Uh oh. Here come the wine cave accusations.

If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden
