(32,640 posts)We know that they are backing Trump to be reelected... so they are backing Bernie as the Democratic contender.
Logic.
Trying to say that the Democrats (or whatever the "Democratic establishment' is that he's talking about) are an enemy on par with the GOP is just ridiculous.
It appears that it is indeed about "Him"

(32,640 posts)something that the American people, let alone Democrats voting in a primary, are going to think makes sense?
Because that's what that tweet sure sounds like.
I'm seriously wondering if he's OK.

(32,640 posts)Even if Bernie's health holds out (there's got to be a reason he refused to follow through with the assurance that the people deserved full comprehensive disclosure of his medical records) I don't see his campaign overcoming the vetting (despite the GOP's best efforts to counteract it during the primary), and now this further damage to his claims of full transparency.
His die-hard supporters, like Trumps, will never let anything change their mind about him, but even the most ballistic enthusiasm doesn't give someone more than one vote.
This bizarre tweet just makes me wonder if he's feeling OK, because it sure doesn't seem to be very good campaign strategy in a Democratic primary to equate the GOP and the Democratic "establishment" whatever that means this week, as being out to get him.

(32,640 posts)We learned that they are backing Trump for POTUS, and they are trying to help Sanders in the primary.
The only logical conclusion is that they think Trump will beat Sanders in the GE.
If they are going to tank Sanders, it would be in a GE, not a primary.

(1,713 posts)He's a self serving ideologue. A career politician. He's not a Democrat but can't be President without hijacking our party. He will be defeated. If not in primary- in GE. He will leave a shattered party.

(11,088 posts)If Trump doesn't like a public figure, s/he's part of the deep state. If Sanders doesn't like a public figure, s/he's part of the "establishment." Same - same.

Exactly. If he and his campaign doesn't like voters' opinions, they become part of the. "establishment" by extension. I reject his treatment and characterization of the Democratic base.

I respect that he's not running third party but he should not alienate Democrats if he wants to grow support.

(32,640 posts)be railing publicly against the source of his media and expensive infrastructure needed to run for POTUS.
Perhaps it's an attempt to get "the establishment" to say something negative publicly about the tweet, which would be useful to stoke suspicion of tampering concerning any lower than expected Nevada caucus results.
However, he has been known to be pushing one message publicly, while his staff is following a different course of action.

(19,835 posts)Primaries and caucuses give him much more exposure than he would receive if he ran on the Independent platform.
I am not a Bernie supporter, but like Ive told my Bernie Bro friends, Ill be the first one in line to vote for him in the GE if he is the Dem nominee as we need to get the orange monstrosity out if the white house.

(40,190 posts)I am sick of his bashing the Democratic Establishment. Whatever is decent in this country is because of the Democratic Establishment. Civil rights, reproductive rights, social security, Medicare, public education, environmental laws...many good things too many to list. Has it all been perfect? No. But democrats have always fought for the greater good.
Im sick of him and his anti-establishment bullshit.
