24. "Argument from Silence" fallacy for the win...
Sun Feb 23, 2020, 02:07 PM
Feb 2020

Description: Drawing a conclusion based on the silence of the opponent, when the opponent is refusing to give evidence for any reason.

So that's two logical fallacies in one thread.

Fish ain't biting, kid.

Two can play this game... So you support a candidate that is benefiting from Our Revolution's FEC violations in taking very large donations, and not disclosing the identity of donors, while that candidate is railing against dark money in campaigns?

Interesting.

From that link...

According to Our Revolution’s tax returns showing contribution amounts but not contributor names, data compiled and first reported by the Associated Press, from 2016 to 2018 Our Revolution raised almost $1 million dollars from contributors who gave in excess of the applicable $5,000 contribution limit, including multiple contributions of between $100,000 and $300,000. Our Revolution has not disclosed any of its contributors to the FEC, as required by federal campaign finance law.

Using their considerable cyber resources to manipulate our elections. They have done it before and they will do it again. I care about them supporting Trump through social media and probably interfering with state election data. I also damn well care if they put their big red thumb on the scale influencing who our candidate is.

How can anyone not care?

9. The Hill: Sanders calls for new NATO that includes Russia
Sat Feb 22, 2020, 12:57 AM
Feb 2020

We should definitely care and ask why? Is it because the candidate has routinely pushed Russia friendly policies such as weakening NATO and isolating the US from the rest of the world?

https://thehill.com/blogs/ballot-box/presidential-races/260804-sanders-calls-for-new-nato-that-includes-russia

Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) called for a new accord between America, its closest allies and Russia as well as Arab nations as a major plank on how to destroy the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS).

“We must create an organization like NATO to confront the security threats of the 21st century — an organization that emphasizes cooperation and collaboration to defeat the rise of violent extremism and importantly to address the root causes underlying these brutal acts,” the Democratic presidential candidate said Thursday during a speech at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C.

“We must work with our NATO partners, and expand our coalition to include Russia and members of the Arab League.”

NATO, the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, started at the doorstep of the Cold War and eventually became a major alliance against the then-Soviet Union. So accepting Russia into NATO, or creating a new defense group all together, would rearrange one of the world’s most powerful bonds by uniting the former rival countries around ISIS as the modern enemy.

And even though the USSR itself is gone, Russia is still making incursions into European countries - just ask Ukraine and Crimea as well as Estonia, Finland (regular airspace violations) and Norway (potential naval conflicts and hacking). And Bernie wants a new NATO that includes Russia?
