Bernie: Elizabeth Warren is a "capitalist through her bones." And, "I'm not."

No, he's a socialist, despite what some of his followers think.

And Warren supports well-regulated capitalism, with a safety net -- and understands how the financial system needs to change. She knows the system inside out, and she knows how to work with people -- and all that knowledge paid off when she shepherded through Congress the law setting up the Consumer Financial Protection agency.

And I'll never forget what happened at the end of the process. The R's would only allow the bill to pass if Warren would agree to let the agency she'd given everything to to be headed by someone else. She put the country ahead of her ego.

How often do you see a politician do that?

https://www.latimes.com/business/la-xpm-2011-jul-19-la-fi-lazarus-20110719-story.html

She added that “Obama doesn’t look good not standing up for Warren. The agency was her idea. She’s done all the hard work. This seems like a slap in the face to Warren.”

It does. But Warren always put the watchdog bureau’s interests ahead of her own, so it’s unsurprising that she’s accepted the president’s decision so graciously. She stood by Obama’s side Monday as Cordray’s nomination was announced.

3. Understanding what a "democratic socialist" really is
Sat Feb 22, 2020, 03:38 AM
Feb 2020

Socialism is already here and we love it.

Republicans fought socialistic programs put in place by Democrats, that Americans now love and depend on, like Social Security, Medicare and the Affordable Care Act.

Many people fear socialism, but that’s because they misunderstand what it actually is.

Socialism already exists at all levels of our government, and we not only love it, but we can’t do without it.

In the U.S., we collectively tax ourselves to pay for programs and projects that benefit quality of life for society as a whole. That’s socialism, and it’s how we live.

Examples of socialism are:
Local police, and state and federal law enforcement agencies like the FBI and CIA
Public libraries
Fire departments
Public garbage collection and landfills
Emergency medical response systems
Construction and maintenance of roads, highways, streets, traffic control systems like stop signals, and safety amenities, like sidewalks and street lighting
Free public schools
Social Security
Medicare
Farmer subsidies
Federally-funded student loans and grants
All branches of the U.S. Military
The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA)
Public water systems that assure we have safe drinking water
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), which enforces workplace safety
Public parks like Lincoln Park, Canyon View Park and the Riverfront Trail system
Bridges, dams and irrigation systems
Sewer systems
Drainage systems
Jails and prisons
Municipal, state and federal court systems
The Veterans Administration and Veterans’ Medical Centers and hospitals
Public beaches
Medicaid
Free school lunch programs
Farm subsidies
Snow removal from streets, roads and highways
Public immunization programs
The U.S. Postal Service

Warren wrote the POLICY for the Consumer Protection Agency, but yes because Warren was disliked by Wall Street Obama didn't have the intestinal fortitude to go ahead and appoint her to run the agency. Maybe because he didn't want to offend anyone on Wall street who had financed his run for Presidency.

8. Wrong. Warren supports every item on the list and she's an avowed capitalist.

There's nothing about capitalism that is incompatible with strong regulations and a healthy safety net, as in the capitalist Nordic countries. (They're not socialist, despite what Bernie supporters think.) The wealthy capitalist FDR would be rolling in his grave to hear his programs called "socialist."

Socialism, and Democratic socialism, is about public ownership of the means of production. That's what Bernie favors, and his Democratic Socialist followers.

From the Democratic Socialist website.

https://www.dsausa.org/about-us/what-is-democratic-socialism/#govt

We believe that the workers and consumers who are affected by economic institutions should own and control them.

Social ownership could take many forms, such as worker-owned cooperatives or publicly owned enterprises managed by workers and consumer representatives. Democratic socialists favor as much decentralization as possible. While the large concentrations of capital in industries such as energy and steel may necessitate some form of state ownership, many consumer-goods industries might be best run as cooperatives.

First she took back the MA Senate seat from Scott Brown. Now she's running for president.

Obama paid dearly as well. She led the fight against the TPP. HRC and Pelosi dropped it like a hot potato.

Sorry but Bernie has gotten more done in Congress than some democrats.

Before Sen Reid retired he appointed Bernie Chairman of the Veterans Affairs Committee. The VA hospitals had a waiting list and many vets dying while waiting for medical care. Bernie did such a great job helping the vets that he has received many awards from vets and just look at his polling.........big vet vote. He is also the ranking member of the budget committee. Plus, of course the dems have asked him to caucus with them for 40 yrs. Chair of Vets...ranking budget member.....that's leadership in dem party.

Now go google Bernie's 5 most successful accomplishments. Besides the VA, he got the dems and reps for the very first time to demand Bernanke AUDIT the federal reserve......never been done. We loaned $$ and bailed out wall street after Bush nearly brought us the next depression. For once we learned where our tax dollars were going!!

How about Jeff Bezos? Shamed him (also Disney) into giving $15 an hour.

He added an amendment to Obamacare and brought 9 million more people into the healthcare system.

He is the one who worked with the republicans and got a bill in the house and senate passed to end the war in Yemen.
After it passed, Trump vetoed it!!
