Why did BS post such a divisive tweet

on the same day that he claimed the Russians were working to divide us rather that to help him?

******************************************************************************************

****************************************************************************************

Bernie Sanders is told by U.S. officials that Russia is trying to help his campaign

Bernie Sanders warned Russia on Friday to “stay out of U.S. elections” as he confirmed that American intelligence officials had briefed him on Russian efforts to help his presidential campaign.

snip===================================================================

It isn’t clear how the Russians may be trying to intervene in the current presidential campaign, but at a Democratic debate in Las Vegas on Wednesday, Sanders hinted that abusive behavior attributed to some of his followers may have been the work of foreign elements trying to sow division.

“All of us remember 2016, and what we remember is efforts by Russians and others to try to interfere in our elections and divide us up,” Sanders said. “I’m not saying that’s happening, but it would not shock me.”

Investigations after the 2016 election found that Russia had tried to intervene in support of Trump through social media campaigns and other actions. Prosecutors also said some of the actions were designed to “support Bernie Sanders” against Hillary Clinton in the Democratic primaries.

There ARE established people in every old bureaucracy taking paychecks and maintaining their social network to ensure the checks keep coming. Ask any anthropologist.

That's a given. And it's refreshing to see someone on OUR side calling it like it is. Trump has been winning lots of hearts for simply sounding like he's being straighforward. But Trump lies constantly. He's a self-serving demogogue. He attacks the "elites" and the "swamp" and simply because he's associated with the Republicans he gets raves from all those Americans who see their miserable lives are indeed worse than the establishment people. And, yes, Trump also attacks people of color, refugees and women for the same self-serving effect.

Bernie DOESN'T attack non-whites, he ISN'T a Republican oligarch working for the Russians (and, no, those pro-Bernie memes from Russia were created by Putin, not Bernie to create a disturbance), and says what all the pundits have been too chicken shit to say all these years. As a result he's getting a lot of nods from the people who vote Democrat but who are NOT impressed by the slide to Right since Reagan. Finally Bernie (and Elizabeth) are questioning this rightward tilt. They are onto LOUDLY (finally!) how the corporations, esp. after Citizens United, have taken our democracy out from underneath us.

Keep it up Senator Sanders!

however, I don't see M4A getting passed for a long time. What could be done immediately is reeling in big pharma and doing something about for profit hospitals. be the nominee. Sanders must step down now! He will destroy the Dem party for a generation He is not a dem doesn’t deserve , Carville comments etc. right here on du . Seems like many Dems very much do want to stop him and I’m not even a full on supporter of his but I have eyes .
Plenty in the media both sides R&D

The primaries should play out as intended and we have already had one disruptor imo Bloomberg who has hurt other candidates but was praised by many Dems , yet now one of the the front runners who is gathering momentum with actual votes is being rejected by a bigger sector

Sanders could lose in plenty of future states but somehow the urgency to remove seems to be now
..( The push by some Dems for Biden to step aside already this early was another WTH for me and I think hurt him, but that’s another post)

Yes I see why he feels that many Dems are focusing on him and do seem to want him stopped and ASAP , so that is why he posted now

We've had a president for almost four years who feels he is above answering questions, and his rabid base and crooked cronies in the government assert that "his authority will not be questioned".

That's not the Democratic Party way.

too far. Although this tweet of Sanders' is unhelpful at best, and I wish he hadn't sent it: I think that he is simply saying that the powers that be of BOTH parties (redundantly re-emphasizing BOTH, as this is not divisive if it applies to all sides involved) can't subvert the will of the people.

But candidly, his 'establishment' line doesn't resonate with me at all. He's been there too long to not be considered part of that establishment, and other posters have noted Democratic leaders who are unquestionably part of the establishment and also great leaders.

The Democratic establishment is out of time

the Democratic primary electorate is divided into only two parts. Bernie Sanders's victory in Tuesday's New Hampshire primary reminded observers of what we have known for a long time, namely that the smaller of these two parts remains united in favor of his candidacy for the Democratic presidential nomination. The larger moderate one remains split, not quite evenly, between Pete Buttigieg, Amy Klobuchar, Elizabeth Warren, and Joe Biden.

We know which side the Democratic National Committee, the party's leadership in Congress, wealthy mega-donors, and luminaries like the Obamas and the Clintons are on. We also know that they are willing to do pretty much anything to prevent Sanders from winning the nomination in 2020. The question is whether they will be able to.

Like [Redacted], Bernie has a noisy, highly motivated cadre of groupthinkers within his supporters. And they form a large enough and/or noisy enough segment of his overall support that without them, his candidacy would not be viable.

But the noisier they are, the more like-minded groupthinkers they attract, and the happier with their anointed leader they are, the more vigorously they defend him, attack non-believers, and attract attention to him and his utterances.

Bernie knows perfectly well that a) they are but a segment of his support, and their ginned-up, groupthinky irrationality can do him some harm with uncommitted voters; but also b) the noisier and more aggressive they are, the more successful his campaign LOOKS, and the more momentum builds.

He seems to be making the "b" choice pretty regularly, because, apparently, the end justifies the means.

Since it is known that Trump is Putin's choice, why is Russia also helping Sanders?

Are the Russians hedging their bets? Hoping to suck up to whoever is the eventual winner?

I think that the Russians calculate that Sanders is beatable - more beatable than another Dem candidate - and they want him to be the Dem nominee because he's be easier for Trump to beat than another candidate (who, I don't know).

them. Whether it's true or not is irrelevant, but they see career politicians who constantly vote based on their wallet and what their donors want, more than the people as a problem for both sides and criticism of those establishment politicians resonate with a lot of voters. I'd prefer Bernie not use those tactics, but they seem to work for him since he's based his 40 year message on fighting against those types of people.

The establishment Dems have also attacked Bernie pretty consistently, so I can understand his frustration. They are actively trying to stop him from winning the nomination, even if it's what the people want. That's not healthy for Democracy.
