(32,967 posts)I've gone door to door, phone banked, did voter registration, acted as a candidate rep, donated to Dems, voted for decades, organized fund raisers, set up & cleaned up after Human Rights dinners.
What I am is establishment.
What I am not is a big money in a nice office in a very nice suit person who will ever demand laws set for my only interests.
"The Democratic Establishment" is a canard, that has gained traction through disdainful repetitions.

(806 posts)Democratic elected officials, you're not part of the Democratic establishment. That would be like saying I'm part of the Hollywood establishment because I go to the movies.

(32,685 posts)Democratic congressman, Nancy, Schiff, the CBC, etc. So even if he's not specifically referring to individual voters like me, he is talking about the leaders who we've voted for and support.
It's offensive and divisive and he needs to stop, although I fear the damage is already done. It's Bernie or bust redux.

(11,996 posts)the Democratic primary electorate is divided into only two parts. Bernie Sanders's victory in Tuesday's New Hampshire primary reminded observers of what we have known for a long time, namely that the smaller of these two parts remains united in favor of his candidacy for the Democratic presidential nomination. The larger moderate one remains split, not quite evenly, between Pete Buttigieg, Amy Klobuchar, Elizabeth Warren, and Joe Biden.
We know which side the Democratic National Committee, the party's leadership in Congress, wealthy mega-donors, and luminaries like the Obamas and the Clintons are on. We also know that they are willing to do pretty much anything to prevent Sanders from winning the nomination in 2020. The question is whether they will be able to.
...
This is what the Democratic party establishment would like to offer them in November 2020.
Though the definition may be a BIT muddled, I will figure it is something I am not a part of.

(1,285 posts)45 years voting for only Ds up and down the ballot in every election. Giving my money in support of those candidates. Volunteering on several campaigns and calling into states to GOTV in gen. elections.
I was a Vote Blue No Matter who until last night when Bernie told me he doesnt need me. He is getting his wish.
His supporters better start going into swing states now to get the gazillion of Bernie people to the polls in November if he is the nominee.
