Bobby was my first Democratic Hero. I wasn't quite old enough to vote but I followed him right up to when they killed him, then I was lost until '76 when I voted for Carter. With Carter I saw how they tried to destroy him. How they treated him was rehearsal for how they would treat President Obama. Bastards.

Sorry, but all the drip, drip, drip of compromise with corporations and Republicans is what has REALLY divided the party. HERE IT IS: On one side of the divide are wealthy, corporate Democrats and the bureaucracy on payroll. On the other side are voters who say "WTF happened to our middle class, our Roe v Wade, our gun-free lives, our underfunded schools and what's with all the f'in potholes?"

15. He's been naming the "establishment" of both parties for 5 years. The "establishment" of my party

just impeached Donald Trump. The "establishment" of my party includes Nancy Pelosi, Barak Obama, Hillary Clinton, John Lewis, Joe Biden, Adam Schiff, Stacy Abrams, Chuck Schumer, Eliot Engel.

They represent ME. I AM the "establishment" of the party. The idea that I should somehow find it acceptable when he calls these people his enemies is disgusting.

Divisive? Couldn't be more so.

As do many of his supporters.

"Fully 12 percent of people who voted for Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., in the 2016 Democratic presidential primaries voted for President Trump in the general election."

Note the "I-Vt." next to Bernie's name. That doesn't look like a "D" to me.

That's why democrat Sen Reid (before retirement) asked him to chair the Veteran Affairs committee and Sanders was ranking member of the budget committee..pushing thru the first federal reserve audit...ever. Plus, the dems asked him to caucus with them ..for 40 yrs.

I was able to vote for Carter, both Clintons , Obama and Gore. I was raised to understand that FDR kept my family and others from starving during the Depression.

When I worked with younger people, I would sometimes ask "Who was President when you were born?" It was indication if they had any interest in history or politics. Few knew. Harry Truman was President the year I was born. Wonder how many on here would have to Google to know????

66. prog wing/'left' as well as the establishment have royally fucked up ignoring talk radio
Sat Feb 22, 2020, 02:26 PM
Feb 2020

when obama finally got it and mentioned talk radio, getting the stimulus package passed by chastising GOP senators for listening to rush limbaugh, as well as referring to it in two SOTU speeches, dem activists etc ignored or ridiculed it, maybe with prompting from russians, as anti free speech, old school low tech out-of-touch, or turned it into attacks on limbaugh himself instead of on the propaganda operations that's been kicking dem ass for 30 years.

none of this trump disaster could have happened without limbaugh leading chorus of a few hundred liars on 1500 radio stations.

whether dem establishment lives in cities and has no clue rw radio has been dominating 40 states with 80 senators for 30 years or maybe some might like it as it enables corporate interests, it has been a monumental fuck up for the progressive wing and the 'left' in general, and ALL progressive activist groups, to keep ignoring it as it almost singlehandely pushed the country 15 points right. instead, dem establishment ignored it too.

if trump/putin paid $1000/hr for radio then 1200 stations x 15 hrs a day are worth $5BIL/year

dem leaders like the clintons and the obama admin could not have ignored talk radio if students had been protesting the 87 universities that support 260 limbauhg stations while they deny global warming and attack progressive candidates and totally disrupt any national discussion on any major issue.

the talk radio monopoly is extremely vulnerable now with artificial intelligence enhanced transcription and the possible well deserved departure of limbaugh. it is not part of the free speech sspectrum and it is not an expression of 'market demand' for hate and global warming demand and racism. the ad industry has to adjust for the possible loss of limbaugh on 600 major stations, many already artificially supported. any real activism aimed at rw radio will force the aad industry to start adjusting preemptively and without talk radio trump and the GOP are total fucked.

then the dem party will have to go 15 pts left.

And I might add that EW should turn her fire towards BS in the next debate. There is too much at stake to let him run away with the nomination, owing only to a divided field of candidates.

EW should ask him why, in the name of transparency, he didn't disclose the Russian meddling much sooner. Why should anyone trust what is coming out of his campaign or any of the "wins" he's had so far, what with Rs crossing over and voting for him? It's all part of a grand rigging.

One can't spend decades trashing the Democratic Party and then claim that those generic, dismissive statements only apply to a select few. That's why blanket statements are usually misguided and almost always wrong.

of the "establishment Democrats" running?

I wonder if the same people who are howling and hissing about the evils of Socialism would've demonized FDR in the same way for enacting some of his (gasp!) Socialistic policies?

The future of our party is to the Left, and the "establishment" will shift Left with its base. Bernie's popularity among young people, and growing popularity among POC, attests to that. They are our future.

Barring any mishegas, Bernie will win our party's nomination and the Presidency, so be prepared to add another portrait to your OP real soon.
