Excerpt from from Politico Down-ballot Republicans watch with glee as Sanders gains steam
The early activity bolsters claims by Sanders' Democratic rivals that he would be a nightmare for Democrats on the ballot next year. The senator's supporters say Republicans will find a way to demonize whomever the nominee is, and Sanders, at least, brings a big upside with the enthusiasm among young voters he inspires.
But Republicans do seem especially eager to face off against Sanders.
Austin Chambers, the RSLC president, said there wasnt anybody who doesnt recognize that Republicans have lost ground in the suburbs in the last few election cycles." But the 78-year-old Sanders, he said, would give Republicans an opening to win those voters back.

Just picked up the Feb 3 issue of Time magazine....the Front Page has, in big letters, the word Youthquake. It explains that the younger generations skews overwhelmingly quite liberal, not troubled by the term Democratic Socialism because they grasp it has zero to do with Communism.
There are more of them Than us fellow Boomers and older.

(16,685 posts)Told me in 2016 that he thought Trump as the nominee would add 3 to 5 percentage points to the totals of Democrats up and down the ticket. I told him i thought he was out of his mind. Wish i had bet him. Be careful what you wish for Republicans. Trump won because of grievance voters and so could Bernie.
