with groups that support him, they represent people that the Democrats failed to connect with, and they failed to do so at their own expense. And many of those people do not look like Chris Mathews.

As I see it, the Democratic party has been creeping away from its original base of support for decades and Bernie is capitalizing on that oversight.

Sometimes I think that the concept of the two party system is harder for Democrats to pull off than it is for Republicans. It's like we have been following our own concept of trickle-down, which fails to reach the people at the lower pay base, and young people who see the gauntlet they have to run to get to the top and have seen opportunities close and problems, like environment and deficits, grow.

God, though, if Bernie wins, please let him be the real thing. In other words, if I discover he turns out to be a puppet for Russia my head will explode.

This Bernie bashing has now officially crossed the threshold into INSANITY.

38. CM speaks the truth. Full quote:
Sun Feb 23, 2020, 08:22 AM
Feb 2020
“I’m reading last night about the fall of France in the summer of 1940, and the Gen. [Louis] Renault calls up [British Prime Minister Winston] Churchill and says, ‘It’s over.’ And Churchill says, ‘How can it be? You got the greatest army in Europe. How could it be over?’ He said, ‘It’s over.’ So I had that suppressed feeling,” Matthews said.

He's not referring to Bernie per se - but the idea that the modern Dem party of JFK, Bill Clinton and Obama could nominate a socialist independent who is being actively supported by Russia for the purpose of losing to a president who was installed by Russia.

Basically, CM speaks for the majority of regular Democrats who support American capitalism w/safety nets (not socialism) and are pro-trade and internationalism (not isolationist).

The left loves to laud FDR, but he and Truman set down our very internationalist (and sometimes interventionist) foreign policy after learning the lessons of WWII of having had our heads in the sand. Both FDR and Truman also hated socialism and communism, and saw big government spending more in keynesian terms than marxist ones.

Yes, I know many don't believe that, but we do.

And if you know history, you know Godwins Law went out thw window when trump was elected. Trump REALLY IS very like hitler in the way he is proceding. Even the steps he is taking.

First identify a group to hate and rally around that hate. "Mexicans are all rapists and murderers, immigrants are coming to infest your town with gangs."

Then, lock up members of that group.

Take over a major information hub: he now dictates what Fox airs.

One by one violate any laws that limit your power in small ways. When that passes, violate that law in a larger way. Neutralize all blocks to your power this way.

Kneecap the press. Check.

Take over the courts. Happening right now.

Declare marshal law after a manufactured disaster and you're done.

So you all may ridicule Chris, but I'm not going to.

Step by step! He's doing the same things!

And if BS wins, Filthy Donnie will be reelected and free to finish the job.

I am not finding Tweety crazy at all.

If the worst comes to pass... it will be cold comfort for me to say "I Told You So" so I'll probably just have to get it tattooed to my forehead instead of continually repeating myself.
