Democratic Primaries
Related: About this forumElizabeth Warren is wrapping up a crazy good speech in Seattle.
We went down to hear her, but were in the overflow crowd. She came out and spoke to us first.
She was sharp and focused, inspiring and energetic. She'll probably get zero coverage on the news, which is frustrating.and depressing.
She's now doing a selfie line for everyone who wants a selfie, including the people who couldn't get in.
She was absolutely amazing and the crowd was super enthusiastic.

(571 posts)Unless she starts going after Bernie harder, she has no chance at the nomination.
Either the gloves have to come off, and these candidates need to kneecap Bernie, or he waltzes to the nom.

(21,425 posts)in not attacking Sanders. It would create too much division among Dems due to the passion of Sanders supporters. I think she is right about that.
Instead, she focuses on winning people over to her. She could use some good media coverage and significant endorsements now. And a lot of help from boots on the ground among her supporters. We could call out the media for ignoring her.

(789 posts)She is highly qualified, markedly energetic, and an excellent candidate. Candidly, the way that DU is behaving around voters choosing Sanders (so far, at least.. many states to weigh in on that yet) makes me wish that the progressive wing puts its eggs in her basket. The ugliness and threats to take their ball and go home play right in to the trump supporters' hands.

(21,425 posts)they prefer to see a fight between Sanders and Trump. The headlines of "fascist vs. socialist" (although I doubt they would openly call Trump a fascist) are too hard for them to pass up. There's money for them in that kind of fight.
The fact that Warren is a smart, qualified, and strong person who is also progressive but more "within the system" than Sanders is more threatening to the corporate media owners.

(4,435 posts)But she either has to win something quick- or else she needs to step aside. She has about two weeks to make a first place showing or she must drop out.

(4,435 posts)It will be March. And after Super Tuesday, more than a third of all delegates will have been chosen.
Yes, If she doesnt win any states by Super Tuesday, she needs to drop out.
The biggest Super Tuesday delegate hauls will be from California and Texas, but there will be other primaries in the South (Virginia, North Carolina, Alabama, Arkansas, Tennessee, Oklahoma), New England (Massachusetts, Maine, Vermont), the West (Colorado, Utah), and the Midwest (Minnesota), and caucuses in American Samoa.
Those, plus South Carolina is coming up next. If she doesnt win any of the above, she has no path to victory.
Im with Bernie.

(2,471 posts)Warren will keep running till there is no other option. If Sanders had acted on your advice in 2016 he would have dropped out before California.

(4,435 posts)Bernie had won first place in 16 states by the end of March , 2016, including four of the first six contests. He had a clear path to win in 2016.
Warren needs to win first in SOME contests by the end of Super Tuesday, or there is no path for her to win at all.
Face it- she CAN still win, but it will take a great deal to overcome Bernies momentum. All I said was- she has two weeks to change the dynamic, but only if she wins something. If she continues to place 3rd or worse in the next two weeks, she has no path to win, and she should drop out.

Clinton failed to recognize that in 2008 against Obama.

(21,425 posts)Warren would be a more formidable candidate against Trump than Sanders. Media, whether left ir right, have corporate owners.
