Sanders leads in another California primary poll

Bernie Sanders is leading in California’s Democratic presidential primary, as Latinos and younger voters rally behind the Vermont senator, according to a Monmouth University poll released Thursday.

The survey of likely voters in the March 3 primary is consistent with other recent polls showing Sanders favored to win the biggest of 14 states holding contests on Super Tuesday.
The Monmouth poll found 24% supported Sanders.

Former Vice President Joe Biden was in second place with 17%,
followed by former New York City Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg with 13%;
Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren with 10%;
Pete Buttigieg, the former mayor of South Bend, Ind., 9%;
San Francisco hedge-fund billionaire Tom Steyer, 5%;
Minnesota Sen. Amy Klobuchar, 4%;
and Hawaii Rep. Tulsi Gabbard, 2%, the poll found.

Under party rules, candidates don’t get any delegates unless they win at least 15% of the vote statewide or in a congressional district.

2. The 15% rule will be interesting. Presumably, Liz's votes will go to Sanders, and the rest

to Joe. Maybe Gabbard goes to Sanders.

That makes it about 35 -37 Sanders to 48 ish for Joe.

I’m a Buttigieg/Warren supporter. But if Biden struggles, I will vote for him. We can’t have Bloomberg, IMO. I’ll strategically vote for Biden to keep him in it against Bloomberg. I’ll take Joe over Mike any day of the week.

Never thought I’d be in this position. Voting for Biden. But, here we are.

8. I agree. Indeed, I never thought I'd ever choose Joe over ANYONE for our Democratic nominee, but...

if it came down to a choice between only Biden or Bloomberg - which, thankfully, it won't - it's a no-brainer... go with Joe.

5. Their votes don't get reallocated

they just don’t get any delegates. So if a given district goes 25% Sanders, 18% Biden, and nobody else breaks 15% then the delegates for that district get divided proportionally between Sanders and Biden. The rest of the votes don’t matter for that district, but are added to the state total for the at-large delegates.

If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden
