If Sanders becomes the nominee, I hope all his supporters are right...

...about his electability, because if not, we will most likely lose the presidency, the Senate, AND the House and Obamacare will be repealed and god knows what else the Republicans will force on everyone. The Supreme Court will be hardline conservative for the next generation. Oh, and it will be a census year, which means that whatever happens in 2020, we will be dealing with its after-effects for the next decade.

This is an election we absolutely cannot fuck up, and it looks like we may be well on our way to making the one choice where we absolutely fuck it up. Even in a worst case scenario, I think we could maintain control of the House with every single one of our other candidates at the top of the ticket. But with Sanders?

If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden

The answer is ... yeah.

Nominating Sanders is fucking up.

Big time.

OTOH, there's not a single other one of them I'm significantly more positive about winning POTUS. This is a mediocre field, much as I appreciate all of them as people.

But I do agree ... ALL the others give us a better chance of keeping the House and possibly getting the Senate.

Which is MORE important, esp. the Senate.

If Sen Sanders does get the nod.. the Democratic Party will vote for him.. there has only been on candidate whose campaign leadership voted for a third party when that candidate did not win!!

We cannot screw this up.. so much at stake

If we had given in to our fears in 2008, it would have become a self-fulfilling prophecy and we would have had President McCain.

(I remember many here arguing America would never elect a Black President)

If Sanders becomes the nominee, in order to win, folks will have to muster the courage to step of that cliff and believe that he can be elected, “Socialist” or not.

managed to pull it off and land the WH, which I have DEEP deep doubts about personally, but I digress.

This is a man who LAST WEEK was snapping about some Q-annon-style conspiracy theory whereby the WASHINGTON POST, reporting the TRUTH that Sanders knew the Russians were attempting to help him win the primary were somehow acting on behalf of the Democratic "establishment." He has expressed his vitriol for Democrats too many times to enumerate here. He has never pretended to be a force of unity, particularly on the national level.

I imagine if somehow he makes it in, I don't believe he will comport himself in a way that elevates our party or that he will be able to deliver on any of his promises. That will be damaging, and the long-term consequences in the wake of that failure will be devastating.

This is how I feel.

Why do you people think that Sanders supporters will not vote for Democrats down ballot! He is bringing in new voters, and his supporters are from all races, and levels of society. People love the guy, media talking heads. and Billionaires not so much. So unless you people on DU who are criticizing Sanders, are saying you are not going to vote for him, stop it. If he has put together a coalition(and he has), and we all vote for him against trump we all win. It is a win win for us all. We can take the House again, and the Senate and have an FDR again. Why are you fighting so hard against your own best interest? I don't know if we even deserve Sanders the way some are treating him.

...the problem is that there are many more non-Sanders supporters out there than Sanders supporters, and if even the same percentage of them do to Sanders what Sanders supporters did to Hillary (e.g., not vote or vote third party), Sanders will lose and probably lose easily.
