Democratic Primaries
Related: About this forumIf Biden or Bloomberg win the nomination we'll lose a lot of support as well.
Bernie's supporters are passionate. Everyone should vote blue no matter who. But, unfortunately, more people may not vote for Biden or Bloomberg than won't vote for Bernie.
We need change urgently. Most people know it even if they don't understand it.
That's why Bernie and Trump are so popular. Change.
I would love to see Warren because I think she will get more done but I'm fine with Bernie.
We need a hard left turn.

(43,161 posts)Bernie and Trump are popular? One is, one is not, have you noticed?
Hard left turn will lose the election.
More people may not vote for Bernie unless he makes his finances and medical records public, makes his programs sane and able to be paid for.
More people may vote for Bloomberg or Biden because they are fiscally responsible. In addition Biden is transparent about his tax records.

(11,045 posts)no matter what Sanders might say. After preaching against the "billionaire class" up hill and down dale, how could Bernie credibly back a Wall Street billionaire from central casting?

(16,107 posts)We would all like to know the answer, to be utterly sure that this or that will happen.
The fact is, we can't see into the future. NONE of us can.
I'm going with let the process play out...only 3 states have voted. We're not even a quarter of the way in.
But after that, I beg you to vote for your candidate and then, when it is done and we've got a nominee, work for that person as if they were your first choice, because any of our candidates is better than what we have roosting in the White House now.
Can you force people not to vote for Sanders?
Can you force people to vote FOR your chosen candidate? If you know of a way to do that, please share because my preferred candidate is awesome!
The process is ongoing. All but one of the candidates will lose, that is how it works. That is how it was designed to work.
And remember this: If we vote, we win. Getting out the vote is much more important than anything else.
If we vote, we win.

(1,713 posts)I think Biden would win and be fantastic for down ballot races in middle America..Bernie or Bloomberg are wild cards but both could win. I dont think we will see many people sit out in 2020. A lot of Bernie support are probably non party and would be interesting to see what they would do.

responsible if trump wins, and we lose the Supreme Court
I would use a few other words toward those who would not vote for the Democratic nominee, but I will refrain
What does comfortable mean for example

(7,384 posts)I have many friends that have vowed to either not to vote at all or to vote 3rd party. They are firm on their belief to walk away if the dems are seen as taking the nomination away from Bernie, that is if he wins it through this primary process.
That is not speculation, that is what people tell me.

(50,992 posts)Anyone who sits this election out, at the expense of others (blaming various establishments) is not a progressive.
Trump is in charge of a nuclear arsenal, hes tried to start a Middle East war, hes kidnapped and caged children, he thinks he is above the law, hes firing anyone who attempts to hold him accountable, hes appointing dangerous Judges to the SCOTUS and lower courts, hes dismantling environmental protections, hes poised to gut social progress and humanitarian programs ... but some will assert Bernie and Warren are the only options?
Ill settle for a sane person who can win.
Susan Sarandon may be insulated from Trumps America, but the earth is not, and neither are most of its inhabitants.

(9,244 posts)Do we need it at the expense of losing our Democratic Republic forever at the hands of a Trump 2nd term?
Beating Trump and making a hard left turn do not have to be done all at once. Insisting on combining the two RIGHT NOW is disastrous IMO. Not to mention short-sighted and a bit childish.
VOTE. FOR. THE. NOMINEE. whoever it is. YES. Even Bloomberg or Sanders. GROW UP AND VOTE for the nominee. Period. We can do "hard left turn" AFTER we save our Republic from the clutches of Russia and Trump.
