So Progressive Votes Beat Out Establishment/Moderates in NV...

Even if you add up the votes for Biden, Buttigieg, Steyer and Klobuchar, they don't beat Bernie.

Maybe The Democratic Party is ready for the Revolution?

My point: it's disingenuous (to say the least) to consider Warren's votes as all going for Sanders, when we know that the electorate is NOT behaving that way this go around....

Mon Feb 24, 2020, 10:18 AM

Realignments tend to enhance the totals of the top candidates and lower the totals of everyone else. Also, we are speaking about one state, and we are talking about a caucus that has a small percentage of the total amount of registered voters and also tends to have a lower percentage of people who are not able to stand around for hours, like the disabled and older Americans.

There is also what is known as the "bandwagon effect". People like to choose winners, so once people hear that a certain person is going to win, undecideds tend to go with whoever is most likely to win. Also, when someone finds their candidate inviable, he or she is more likey to switch to the person more likely to win overall--which is also part of the bandwagon effect.

The fact that Sanders picked up so much from supporters of candidates who were not viable the first time--including MODERATE candidates--bodes well for how he may be able to win in future contests when, similarly, there will be fewer competitors, because some candidates are likely to have dropped out. Realignments kind of foreshadow that circumstance, what happens when the weaker ones fall by the wayside.
