Even if you add up the votes for Biden, Buttigieg, Steyer and Klobuchar, they don't beat Bernie.
Maybe The Democratic Party is ready for the Revolution?

(23,018 posts)Compared to 65% for Bernie and 60 for Warren who are both Progressive Candidates.
Bernie is so far the most likely candidate to be the nominee. People here better get used to it.

(11,982 posts)...not so much because things can change a lot in two years, but because turnout is much bigger on a presidential election year, and *IF* our Dem nominee does well somewhere, that's likely to have a positive impact down ticket no matter what... and in this case, even more if our nominee was a similar leftward Sanders or Warren, who was bring a disproportionately greater number of left-leaning voters into the poll booths.

Her policies are very similar to Bernie's.
But here's a truth:
Vote Blue,
No Matter Who,
And that means Bernie TOO!

(601 posts)But she hasn't voted for Sanders yet, nor has she joined the Revolution, plus she did switch it up regarding M4A.
My point: it's disingenuous (to say the least) to consider Warren's votes as all going for Sanders, when we know that the electorate is NOT behaving that way this go around....

(2,657 posts)Realignments tend to enhance the totals of the top candidates and lower the totals of everyone else. Also, we are speaking about one state, and we are talking about a caucus that has a small percentage of the total amount of registered voters and also tends to have a lower percentage of people who are not able to stand around for hours, like the disabled and older Americans.
There is also what is known as the "bandwagon effect". People like to choose winners, so once people hear that a certain person is going to win, undecideds tend to go with whoever is most likely to win. Also, when someone finds their candidate inviable, he or she is more likey to switch to the person more likely to win overall--which is also part of the bandwagon effect.

(11,982 posts)The fact that Sanders picked up so much from supporters of candidates who were not viable the first time--including MODERATE candidates--bodes well for how he may be able to win in future contests when, similarly, there will be fewer competitors, because some candidates are likely to have dropped out. Realignments kind of foreshadow that circumstance, what happens when the weaker ones fall by the wayside.

Sanders got 35% of the vote. Do you really think he only got 6000 votes in Nevada?
