So, is our choice between plutocracy and polarization?

Last edited Mon Feb 24, 2020, 02:46 PM - Edit history (1)

Since none of the current non-Bernie candidates seem to be catching on, Bloomberg continues to loom. But I don't want a democracy where money buys you so much. But I don't want to hinge everything on purity either.

Maybe in 2024 we'll have enough of congress to pass a public funding of federal offices law.

Does anyone seriously see a different path? Can you see the super delegates denying a big Bernie plurality? That wouldn't be good either.

A big mess. I may hibernate till 2024.

EDITING TO CHANGE "OLIGARCHY" to "PLUTOCRACY."

"The main difference between Oligarchy and Plutocracy is that the Oligarchy is a power structure and Plutocracy is a society or system ruled and dominated by the small minority of the top wealthiest citizens."

1. Polarization is much more fixable than subversion of democracy into oligarchy

I'd rather the process continue working poorly than lose control all together

but just maybe if Sanders gets to the convention with a huge plurality, we ought to get in line and enthusiastically support his candidacy.

6. Agree. Plutocracy would be a better word, as in the Telecommunications Act

Nothing more dangerous than when the message is controlled by so few.

5. I see a path: A HUGE strong coalition! That's Sanders!

And also someone who polls say can beat Trump by the largest margin.

Where's the polarization/purity in that? I'm missing something, or sadly just seeing a bunch of fear which never did anyone any good except perhaps running from a burning building instead of putting the fire out.
