Huh - I wonder why CM would fear Castro holding executions?? jmg257 Feb 2020 #2
Fascinating story. Act_of_Reparation Feb 2020 #6
I guess...it is: CM had GREAT reason for speculating that if castro/Reds won, he'd have executed jmg257 Feb 2020 #9
Tweety wasn't trying to make a point about socialism. Act_of_Reparation Feb 2020 #13
Understood. His point had to do with Bernie - and Bernie's support of castro, socialists, etc. jmg257 Feb 2020 #14
With the implication being Bernie Sanders would have people shot in Central Park... Act_of_Reparation Feb 2020 #17
Yea, but what about the increase in literacy? Jose Garcia Feb 2020 #10
Yes - let's give credit there! Finally Cubans could read about all the people castro had killed! jmg257 Feb 2020 #11
Some have commented that he makes an interesting observation. NurseJackie Feb 2020 #3
From evidence, he makes a most likely rather accurate argument. Not like castro was Ghandi. jmg257 Feb 2020 #4
I'd be more worried about Trump executing people in Central Park Mr.Bill Feb 2020 #5

IMO, his mountain of gravitas has just been flattened. He's as useful as the guy on a fruit crate on Skid Row. Matthews is fighting a battle in his mind that no one else can imagine. It's time for him to greet customers at Walmart before and after he yells at the school kids to get off his lawn.

Within the first two months of the 1959, Castro's government executed more than 300 Batista officials, with Latin American historian Thomas E. ... The anti-Castro Archivo Cuba estimates that 4,000 people were executed in Cuba between 1959 and 2016.

In the wake of his overthrow of Cuban President Fulgencio Batista in 1959, supporters of the old government were sent before summary courts and at least 582 were shot by firing squads over two years.

Estimates of executions under Castro’s 50-year rule run into the thousands, with monitors warning of unfair trials, arbitrary imprisonment and extrajudicial executions.

journalists, gays, lesbians, dissidents, human right defenders, critics, etc. etc.

It began with mass summary executions of Batista officials and soon progressed to internment of thousands of gay men and lesbians; systematic, block-by-block surveillance of the entire citizenry; repeated purges, complete with show trials and executions, of the ruling party; and punishment for dissident artists, writers and journalists.

He was trying to make a point about Bernie Sanders, and a pretty goddamned ridiculous point at that.

CM obviously does NOT like socialists and castro and Reds and communists.

He is definitely not appreciative of Bernie's POSSIBLE support of such people/notions.

Also, I've heard it argued that he's beyond his shelf-life expiration date, but he shouldn't be fired for saying thought provoking things. I'm against Socialism too.
