Democratic Primaries
Related: About this forumIn the delegate counts, so far Bernie's won 1 state (NV), tied 1 (NH) and lost 1 (Iowa)
And his followers are declaring victory and saying the race is all but over.
Would Bernie have accepted that from the Hillary camp in 2016, when she won 2 out of the first 3 contests?

(108,959 posts)Hillary won 2/3 by voters or delegates, and yet no one was declaring victory after 3 little contests. She would have been a laughing-stock if she'd tried to.

(5,167 posts)Bernie didn't lose New Hampshire, he tied. Your title is still wrong.

(108,959 posts)I don't understand why some people can't at least wait till Super Tuesday to see how things shake out.
It makes the millions of us who won't even vote till AFTER March 3 feel that much more redundant.

The 538 crew can hardly be called Sanders followers, but this is their forecast: https://projects.fivethirtyeight.com/2020-primary-forecast/.
A lot of folks seem to not understand how this works, that frontrunner status is not just about the current delegate total. There are other factors, such as polling aggregates and analysis of where support is coming from. For instance, do you think someone with almost no support from POC is viable in a race for the Democratic Party nomination? Answers to those types of questions matter.

(41 posts)He won a clear victory in NV, along with the popular vote in the other two contests.
He is polling well with a +12.1% average. And He has already been through this processes in 2016 so there really is very little to toss at him that has not been tried before, the odds are he will be the nominee, and he has really attached himself to popular topics for the average voter.
Of course the number of candidates is helping to fragment those more to the right, which really helps.
The odds would of course change if everyone but say Biden drops out, as it would really force people to consolidate their votes and we would probably see something akin to 2016.
I don't think Bloomberg is really a serious contender considering his past debate performance, that he is canceling town-halls, and the fact that he has made so many critical mistakes, and said so many questionable things in his past.
