Bloomberg called Warren 'scary' and vowed to 'defend the banks' in closed-door 2016 event

(CNN)Former New York City Mayor Mike Bloomberg said at a private event in 2016 that his presidential campaign platform would have been to "defend the banks" and also labeled the progressive movement and Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren, now a rival for the 2020 Democratic presidential nomination, as "scary."

When asked his views on the rise of the far right in Europe, Bloomberg warned about the rise of progressive politicians in the US, citing Warren.
"The left is arising. The progressive movement is just as scary," he says. "Elizabeth Warren on one side. And whoever you want to pick on the Republicans on the right side?"
Bloomberg, who was elected mayor as a Republican and as an independent, also criticized President Barack Obama, saying that his 2012 endorsement of Obama was "backhanded" and that he thought Republican Mitt Romney could have done a better job if he'd been elected.

... snip ...

Bloomberg added of the banking crowd, "these are my peeps."

Bloomberg is the logical endpoint of corporate Democrats. If his billions but him the nomination, there will be no escape from autocracy. I'll vote for him as better than Trump's fascism, but that's all.

Mayor Bloomberg makes gobs of money selling financial information faster than your average bear.

It costs quite a bit that subscription.

How does one blame a man for profiting on something that is legal? 🤷?♀️

Services like his further distort the markets, once more giving a leg up to the already very well heeled.

Elizabeth Warren is well aware of this and of course! has a plan to make our markets fairer.

No doubt, Mayor Bloomberg, along with all rent seekers in our marketplace, are frightened of that.

Nonetheless, even Mayor Bloomberg would be better than the unindicted ci-conspirator we have now.

He can continue to give to worthy causes. Support the Democratic Party financially. However, he has way too much baggage - all in his own words. Defend the banks? Really? They sure as heck do not need any more defense. We the people need to be defended from the banks.
I fail to understand how anyone sees this man as worthy of being the leader of our party.

And people actually might vote for him? Just how many people on the internet are on his payroll. He loves republicans, rips the "left" and yet he is trying to buy the democratic nomination. Ironic indeed.
