Michael Douglas on the campaign trail for Mike Bloomberg

Mike Bloomberg dialed up the star power Sunday in the Bay State, bringing in award-winning actor Michael Douglas to campaign for the Democratic presidential hopeful in his hometown of Medford, Mass, and other communities.

Douglas, who in Hollywood played the commander-in-chief in “The American President,” spoke to about 200 people at Bloomberg’s Medford office — touting the former New York City mayor’s accomplishments and saying the billionaire businessman “gets it done.”

“This is really, truly one of the best candidates we’ve had running for office in 30 to 40 years,” Douglas said at the office in Townline Plaza.

Bloomberg backers at the Medford field office said the late entrant to the crowded Democratic primary has a great chance of winning in Massachusetts on Super Tuesday, despite the Bay State being U.S. Sen. Elizabeth Warren’s home territory. “We’re optimistic,” said former Boston Police Commissioner Ed Davis, who’s leading Bloomberg’s campaign in Massachusetts, of the March 3 primary here.

Does anyone realize that if he ends up buying the nomination he is going to alienate millions of other candidates voters?
