Bernie needs to come out immediately and renounce these prior views

I won't post there here, but they were released this morning and are disgusting (see thread by HighPlainsDem).

Things happen in the past and are said or were misunderstood.

But this latest stuff is absolutely disgusting.

Bernie needs to come out and renounce it to avoid further damage.

Do you really think the Trumpsters will let him get by these -- and many, many other ridiculous and even horrible -- things he's said or done in the past, just by renouncing them?

Not to mention the fact that: a) polling showing the vast majority of voters DON'T WANT socialism and b) polling shows the vast major of voters DON'T WANT Medicare for All?

If Bernie is the nominee, it's all over. Democracy. Rule by law. And the Democratic Party will be branded socialist for years to come -- with good reason.

Imagine you had heard about none of this until he held a press conference and then heard:

"I no longer believe children should run around naked touching each other's genitals."

"I no longer believe women get cancer from too many orgasms."

"That quote about women fantasizing about being raped by three men is taken out of context..."

"It was a weird time."

Best thing might be to just have a single conference and put it all out on the table rather than let it dribble out. American public is very forgiving, and although it seems like its tough for Bernie maybe a little contrition for this dirty stuff might be in order.

it won't erase them. You can renounce prior political stances, because circumstances (and, for that matter, a candidate's constituencies) change.

But these early, fully adult writings are about character (and to some extent, about intellect). That's way harder to get around. Misogyny and susceptibility to woo are character traits, not political decisions made in the exigencies of their times and places.

Besides, Sanders' claim to fame is his supposed "consistency" (although some see it as stuck in the past of old, rigid ideologies). You can't have it both ways: that you are the most consistent, but that you've changed your personality.

Don't get me wrong at all man, until now I've been far from pessimistic on Bernie. I've felt he would still destroy Trump although a bit of a wild card. I'm definitely NOT a bernie hater.

But now you're telling me that its normal to talk dirty like that?

Women were just support staff, and pretty much buzz kill unless they could play that role. Remember "Love the one you're with"? Seemed so free and loving... but to me, it became a justification for situations that in hindsight were date rape.
