Or maybe he will tell us why those women sued him?

During his years as a contributor to the Freeman in the late 1960s and early 1970s Bernie Sanders’ wrote (what is now) a fifty-year-old 70s-era "tongue-in-cheek" essay (Bernie was a kid himself) so the story is getting a little long in the tooth.

The same story was published during his first presidential bid, I thought that everyone had read about it (or heard some distorted version of it) by now?

In a letter to the editor published in the Freeman in 1969 Bernie wrote, “With regard to the schools that you send your children to, are you concerned that many of these institutions serve no other function than to squash the life, joy and curiosity out of kids.”

Oh! I think it’s far worse than that.

He wrote that, “the basic function of the schools is to set up in children patterns of docility and conformity—patterns designed not to create independent and free adults, but adults who will obey orders, be ‘faithful’ uncomplaining employees, and ‘good’ citizens.”

Too true, it’s Harlan County USA all over again. Keep them trapped in poverty so they will go into the mines - or the military.

In an attempt at humor Bernie wrote an essay that was tongue-in-cheek “In Vermont, at a state beach, a mother is reprimanded by Authority for allowing her 6-month-old daughter to go about without her diapers on. Now, if children go around naked, they are liable to see each other’s sexual organs, and maybe even touch them. Terrible thing! If we raise children up like this it will probably ruin the whole pornography business, not to mention the large segment of the general economy which makes its money by playing on people’s sexual frustrations.”

Does he know what tongue-in-cheek means? I hope he never reads Lolita. It's a 1955 "tongue-in-cheek erotic novel" written by Russian American novelist Vladimir Nabokov. Vladimir Nabokov was a teacher of languages at Stanford, California. Later, he joined as a professor of literature at Wellesley College, Massachusetts. Being a multi-talented person, Nabokov was famous for his plays, funny sketches for 'New Yorker', criticism and stirring short stories. His research in entomology, especially the discovery of "Nabokov's wood nymph" made him famous at the Museum of Comparative Zoology, Harvard University. Nabokov has so much talent that it's unbelievable.

I know. It is sick. I'll never look at him the same way again. It's disgusting!

Can you believe that there are folks out there DEFENDING and EXCUSING this shit? I swear I want to VOMIT. The very sight of his face disgusts me now!

It's not as though this was an "invasive thought" ... but the fact that he carefully considered this before putting it out there... I'm just... OH GOOD GOD!

He needs to withdraw now. Right now. Immediately.

For many people... I'll bet this disgustingness will supercede the "no matter who" mantra. You just know that the GOP has the commercials all lined up and ready to play nonstop. I suspect that this news is a game-changer that for many mothers and grandmothers will be even worse than "Socialism".

Oh well... what can ya do? Bernie's supporters certainly are loyal to a fault, no matter what new information is presented, it's quickly and easily dismissed and rejected if it doesn't comport with everything else they think they know.

Anywayyyy... I'll never be able to look at him again (not without these disgusting things coming into my mind).

of bad shit is coming out about all the front runners right now. If there is something republicans would find even "juicier" than this shit, it must be pretty bad. And the fact that they are holding it in reserve terrifies me.

I feel like we're walking toward one of those traps with the hole with the spikes in the bottom and the leaves artfully strewn over the top so you can't see it.
