Sanders surpasses Biden among African American voters

U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders has widened his lead for the Democratic presidential nomination and overtaken Joe Biden in support among African Americans - a voting bloc that until now has largely favored the former vice president, according to a Reuters/Ipsos national poll released on Tuesday.

The result could spell trouble for Biden, the one-time frontrunner who has lagged behind the field after the first few Democratic nominating contests. To remain a viable contender, Biden has been banking on a strong showing in Saturday’s South Carolina primary, a state where black voters make up more than half of the Democratic electorate.

The Reuters/Ipsos poll, conducted Feb. 19-25, also showed that support for billionaire media mogul Michael Bloomberg slipped by 2 percentage points after the former New York City mayor faced intense scrutiny from other candidates last week in his first debate as a presidential candidate.

Among all registered Democrats and independents, 26% said they would vote for Sanders, while 15% said they were backing Bloomberg and another 15% supported Biden.

Senator Elizabeth Warren and former mayor Pete Buttigieg were each supported by 10% of respondents. Another 4% said they would vote for Senator Amy Klobuchar of Minnesota and 3% said they were supporting billionaire philanthropist Tom Steyer.

The polls are what the polls are.

But actual election results matter more now and the SC primary is this Saturday!

If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden

All Bloomberg seems to be accomplishing are 2 things:

1. Bloomberg is siphoning off votes from the Biden Campaign and that's keeping Sanders in first place.

2. Bloomberg is alienating the 30-35% of the Democratic base that supports Sanders with his attacks.

Is this some sort of crazy divide and conquer strategy or something?

The things Bloomberg is doing seem to be helping Trump more than any Democrat.

Look at the 538 projected delegate counts for yourself:

https://projects.fivethirtyeight.com/2020-primary-forecast/?ex_cid=rrpromo

Bloomberg is just taking delegates away from Biden.

Why is Bloomberg doing this?

It only helps Trump.

There is no way Bloomberg is going to be our nominee.

If Bloomberg's goal was to stop Trump and Sanders, well, he could still run all his 100's of millions of dollars worth of ads against them both and NOT be running himself.

Instead, he has chosen to destroy the Biden Campaign by siphoning off half of the delegates that would be going to Joe.

https://projects.fivethirtyeight.com/2020-primary-forecast/?ex_cid=rrpromo

This all just seems to be helping Trump.

I just don't get it.

I mean Bloomberg can just go back to being the 12th richest man in the world after he makes a shambles of our 2020 Democratic primary.

Bloomberg is single-handedly denying Joe Biden a shot at the nomination.

He's trashing both progressives and he has dismissed Buttigieg as a serious candidate.

What happens to the Democratic party in the general election?
