A Democratic candidate for President just told me ...

... that if I am black, Latino, or Native American, he's going to launch a program to give me federal money to start up my own marijuana-selling business.

Did I hear that right?

Seriously. I don't necessarily think it's a bad idea. I just can't believe that I just heard it.

Again, I adore my Democratic candidates.

Regrettably, I am neither black, Latino, nor Native American.

I wonder whether such a law, if it could pass, would violate my 14th Amendment equal protection rights.

It sounds like he/she thinks that only people from those races will engage in that kind of business.

since before this country was founded. There is money to be made in the marijuana market and the trend so far is to favor large growers.

To fight racism — to be an anti-racist — we must support real policies that address a history of injustice. That’s what racial justice is about. It’s not just mealy-mouthed platitudes about equality. It’s policy. It’s taking action.

And, yes. Taking action to ensure historically disadvantaged communities get more support to start businesses.
