She has finished like 4th in every race. Still spending time on Bloomberg. I mean, good point but the frontrunner isn't Bloomberg and you have a week until your finished

Plus he was the amendment king in Congress. I think Sanders & Warren are the only ones on the stage that would make a good President. Most importantly they would both be ethical as President.

But we'll have to agree to disagree about Bernie.
But we're on the same team. We're Dems!

(525 posts)First, get second place on Super Tues. If she can be the primary alternative to Sanders, this sets her up for the same long-shot one on one scenario both Warren and the moderates want (and she's more likely to win it, too, because she can crowd Sanders by winning a portion of people like me who like both of them). In that respect pulling Sanders down isn't as a big as pushing herself up & taking down a moderate competitor.
Second, set up for contested convention. To have a chance of winning a contested convention, she needs to be second in delegates and have Sanders slow down. It's easier/more likely to win to push for that second place & hope events take out Sanders on their own.
Third, not hurt the other progressive. She said it herself at the beginning of this debate - she agrees in a lot of ways on the issues. She thinks she'd be a more effective champion, but she may legitimately like Sanders more than the other candidates.

(29,189 posts)actually, until this year, I thought I was left to center left but somehow the party moved away from me...
anyway, I would be happy with Warren. I'd still be happy with Amy but I think this is her last hurrah... and, of course, I'd be happy if Joe starts to do well.

(29,189 posts)but I hope its not Sanders... because I want to win and win back the Senate, and I hope it's not Bloomberg because eeww...
(that said, if Mike wants to drop a couple of B on the DNC or some super pacts... I'm good with that... not too proud to match the RNC in spending).

(53,928 posts)I didn't see all of it. But there was no one true winner like with the Vegas debate. These debates are making everyone sharper. Even Bloomberg (tho it'd be hard for him not to improve over Vegas)

lapfog_1
(29,189 posts)by now he would be much better in the debates (Bloomberg)... that said... he is my least favorite person from our side to actually be president, Bernie is my least favorite to RUN as our nominee.

(2,870 posts)hasn't been able to maintain her momentum. She made some good points, of course, but she didn't have to keep trying to gut Bloomberg. She needs to start cutting into Bernie's lead on the progressive side and it doesn't look like she can at this point.

George II
(67,782 posts)....going into tonight, but she finished herself off.
My take on the others:
Sanders came off as bitter and angry.
Biden was the statesman, he almost looked like he was enjoying the in-fighting
Bloomberg held his own
Buttigieg did well, countered Sanders well
Klobuchar did well, but didn't get enough time
Steyer should pack it in, he's got good ideas but he's politically weak
Disclaimer - I turned it off after the first hour was almost over, the moderators were even worse than the NBC moderators last time, and they were horrible.

(45,380 posts)Liberal voters have decided to pick one out of the two lefties. She chose not to attack him because she's in it to see liberal policies win. She made a strategic decision to take down Bloomberg instead.
The moderates in the race have split the moderate votes between them.

There is a major chunk of the party who doesnt agree with Bernie on how to get it done.

(45,380 posts)I like Warren since she wants good things for America, not for herself. She chose not to run in 2016 to avoid competing against Hillary and risk being a spoiler.
I also have my own ideas on what Dem primary voters have been thinking. It seems like they might want to correct some wrongs from 2016. Traditionally it's been the GOP who nominates their second place finisher the next time around.

(15,541 posts)She is projected to come in first or second in several Super Tuesday states.
She has enough money to last past Super Tuesday, which Amy, Pete and Joe do not.
If Warren drops out now, Sanders chances of getting 50+% of the delegates goes up dramatically.
So, what was your point again?

(11,045 posts)and I think that decision will largely rest on how well Biden campaigns in the remainder of states. Bloomberg would be unacceptable to Sanders (to say the least), and the majority of delegates is likely to share my view that Sanders would lose the GE (badly).
