Biden Tells Bernie That Being A Progressive Means Getting Things Done, Not Yelling Policy Ideas...😎

Former vice president Joe Biden tore into Bernie Sanders on Tuesday night, hammering his record on guns, his criticism of Barack Obama, and the fact that he’s gotten very little done in his career in government.

I’m not saying [Sanders is] responsible for the nine deaths, but that man would not have been able to get that weapon with a waiting period of – what I suggest – until you are cleared,” Biden said

Bernie Sanders likes to act as though he has corned the market on progressive policy ideas, but the truth is that very little of his agenda has actually been implemented

Yes, part of being a candidate for president is offering policy prescriptions to the problems facing the country. But it’s also about showing the American people that you can deliver

Wed Feb 26, 2020, 09:45 AM
Feb 2020

politicians that still believe that things like "Medicare For All", "Free education", "Fair Taxing", and all the other ideas he proposes are not possible "because Americans love their insurance", blah, blah, blah, etc.

You need two to tango. People in the status quo, like Biden, like Klobucher, will not get themselves out of the status quo box they have lived for so many years, that is why they are proposing "slow paths" that will never reach their goals, just like Obamacare. First take a look at both websites, Klobucher being the worst, as if a six-year-old had written a wish list to Santa, Biden's is much better but outlines what the status quo is, and how he intends to keep it alive and well.

It is hard to bring those progressive ideas into fruition, and maybe/hopefully by winning the nomination and the presidency he can achieve those goals.

Don't rejoice to the fact that the status quo politicians have not allowed the many things that both Sanders and Warren want to do have not happened. Obamacare should be a reminder to everyone that the fight against M4A doesn't come from the citizens, it comes from the corrupt politicians.

American exceptionalism will be justified when progressive ideas become a reality, then we can boast about how great this country is, in the meantime it is just a hype-the-public-who-doesn't-know-better shout. So many people shouting "USA is the best country in the World", but ask them what they know about other countries in the World and you will hear crickets.

Now, stop the bashing of Democratic candidates, its not winning any points for those who bash and it is not convincing anyone to change candidates, it is just filling up republicans hearts with joy to see Democrats bickering everyday, all day.

When has leaking information stopped republicans? That issue being discussed was of the most importance to the country, Obama and Biden should have allowed the information to come out.

I don't know, one of the things Biden continues to tell us all is that "he can negotiate effectively with republicans", and he calls Moscow-Mitch "Mitch", as if they are old pals...so why didn't Biden use his fantastic negotiating skills to force "Mitch"? One has to wonder...

The glare of the sun just exposed Biden's negotiating skills, didn't it?

inequity of the 99%?

That's a real reach.

I myself have been talking for years about it, too, but I expect a politician talking about it to put some actual results on the table, especially after a long, long career on Capitol Hill.

People were talking about income inequality long before Sanders - MLK, for example - he influenced public discourse in a much larger and more effective way than Sanders ever has.

But Warren has had more influence and taken more action on issues of income inequality than Sanders has.

Unlike most members of her class, Warren is a staple on the campaign trail, a frequent feature of headlines and talk shows, and the recipient of an avid campaign to draft her into the presidential campaign—regardless of how many of her bills have become law.

And for Warren, that was never the point. She didn't run for office to sign onto a slew of legislation naming post offices and making insignificant changes to U.S. policy. Her goal wasn't exactly to pass dozens of big bills either; she's too much of a realist for that, allies say.

.......................................

Warren's restraint may have lost her the battle, but has earned her a tremendous amount of respect from her colleagues. Warren allies say that, coupled with her fundraising for candidates across the Democratic party spectrum, is what has helped to keep her relevant within the conference—though thousands of avid supporters willing to put their votes and their dollars behind her ideology, and against those who oppose her, don't hurt either.

That's helped Warren to continue to hold outsized sway over the conversation among Democratic policymakers in Washington, particularly for a freshman. "Democrats in Congress were talking about cutting Social Security in 2012, and Warren got 42 of 44 Democrats to vote yes on expanding Social Security benefits instead," Adam Green, cofounder of the Progressive Campaign Change Committee said in a statement.

Warren's real power lies in her outsized influence, not just for a freshman senator, but for virtually any elected official in Washington. Her pen may not have touched many pieces of legislation that made their way to Obama's desk since her election in 2012, but her fingerprints are all over them.

Sanders' registered on radar for me every time the Brady bill was up for a vote. Otherwise, he was a representative of Vermont. Was never aware of his speech, just his brusque nature when his votes on guns was discussed.

WASHINGTON – It turns out Donald Trump wasn’t the only candidate the Russians allegedly tried to help during the 2016 presidential campaign.

A 37-page indictment resulting from special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation shows that Russian nationals and businesses also worked to boost the campaigns of Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders and Green party nominee Jill Stein in an effort to damage Democrat Hillary Clinton.

The Russians “engaged in operations primarily intended to communicate derogatory information about Hillary Clinton, to denigrate other candidates such as Ted Cruz and Marco Rubio, and to support Bernie Sanders and then-candidate Donald Trump,” according to the indictment, which was issued Friday.

This line of attack on Sanders that he has done nothing is misinformed. Look at the amendments he has landed into legislation that got passed. Amendments matter a great deal because they are a way to get policy priorities through in a bipartisan way, with both sides adding them to legislation all can live with. That is effective behavior from Sanders.

...then Joe has lost his mojoe.

For example, Obama’s put him in charge of gun control legislation and he failed to get any gun legislation passed after Sandy Hook

He was also ineffective at stopping Rubio from defunding the ACA.

So no, Joe.

58. The bottom line of all this is that we must work to restore all the good that Obama & Biden

did during their eight years of their presidency, that we must (like Klobucher said) clorox the White House and the Senate, that we must move progressive ideas to become what we can be, and as Democrats we must do everything we can to help our nominees and thus vote for the one who is chosen by the people.

Whether it is Biden, or Sanders, or Warren who will take charge of this restoration is not important at this time, we have bigger problems to resolve, we must clean the White House and the Senate, we cannot do it if we are not united, if we don't work on the same goals, and that is to vote blue no matter who, and to stop attacking/eating our own.

In the meantime listen to some beautifully played guitar:

Biden actually had accomplishments in the Senate working with a team.

While lone wolf Bernie got not a lot done acting like a one man gang.

You have to be willing to work with people and accept incremental progress (see, e.g. Hillary). BS hasn't shown he can do that.
